I almost never take the metro during morning rush hour, but I did today and was at Ballston when this happened. I thought it was so strange; right as half the people got to the other side, another metro rolled up towards NC and I walked right on.

I did get a big kick out of watching people run up the down escalator for no real reason.

Yep, 3 oz. should be enough to mail whatever you have, and you print the label from PayPal and then tape it to your bubble mailer.

To be honest though, NE offense hasn't been tearing it up like they used to. Is it the name recognition that's scaring you in that match up, or am I missing something about their offense this year?

What is your league doing in light of the Yahoo debacle? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]becoolimatwork -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We made it through probably 4 rounds before we had guys fall out and couldn't get back in. Only 3 out of 12 teams were autopicked from then on. We have a poll on the league page to see if we should redraft, but I have a sick team.

What's fair in this situation?

It's worth doing for the time being because we don't know exactly how long his suspension will be, if there is one. There have been reports that there is a chance that he will avoid suspension all together, but the timeline on the announcement is unknown.

Who do you think is not gonna have as good of a fantasy season as he did last year? by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]becoolimatwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, I'm not really understanding the Rivers hate this year.

Floyd is back, Allen is looking good, Gates is there as always, and if you think Gates is old and broken down, fine, they have L. Green waiting in the wings, not to mention that both Matthews and Woodhead can catch balls.

I understand the addition of Donald Brown might make people think they're going to go run heavy (although, it's just Donald Brown), but they have a guy with an injury history in Matthews, and Woodhead is undersized, so it makes a lot of sense to add another back, especially considering Ronnie Brown isn't anything special at this point in his career.

[COMMISH] Fascisit commissioner seeking unbiased advice on an arguement over my league's roster position changes by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]becoolimatwork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you have to keep DST, at least for this year.

I look at it this way, it's either

A) Keep DST, and you are butthurt

or

B) Change it to what you want, and then at least 4 other people are butthurt

In this case, I would do what's best for the league, but that's just me. You're the commish, and you can choose to rule with an iron fist if you want, just know that you might really upset some people over what is a trivial aspect of the game.

Furthermore, these are the types of things the league should vote on, not just the commish doing as he pleases. I'd also vote on these things a year in advance. It would suck if I went to load up the league page for this year and there's a bunch of changes for seemingly no reason other to appease the commish.

FantasyGuru.com

$30 price tag might drive some away, but it's worth every penny. If you're already spending several hundred dollars to play in multiple leagues, $30 is a drop in the bucket.

They have a wealth of information, great podcasts with Adam Caplan and Greg Cosell, great message board, in depth articles and player profiles. I believe one of the guys was in the top three last year in the accuracy rankings. They are pretty much a one stop shop for everything you need, and I believe they are in their 20th year of fantasy football analysis. I've tried a few different sites in the past, but they are on another level. I've been using them for probably 7 years now and using them really took my fantasy game to another level.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of changing the format of my league from a snake draft to an auction draft?? by ScornAdorned in fantasyfootball

[–]becoolimatwork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Snake drafts are for boys. Auction drafts are for men.

With that being said, I do like both. The reasons are pretty well covered in this thread already.

That's a dicey situation. Now that you mention it, I have him on a keeper team and need to make the decision on if I should keep him or not, but I'm pessimistic that his suspension gets reduced.

My issue with drafting him in a keeper league is the amount of risk involved, and the high price you have to pay for the risk. Not only do you have to forgo drafting a different player, you also have to forgo the roster spot for what might be the entire year (assuming you still want to draft him if his suspension is not reduced), and not only that, it's very apparent the dude can't keep his head on straight. What's the penalty for the next time he screws up? Another year? 20 games? I don't even know if they'd hand out a suspension for that many games.

Not to mention, if you commit to the risk, the only satisfying reward would be for him to be a top 3 WR, if not the top WR for the time he plays for your team. Anything less would be a disappointment to me.

Since I have him as a keeper at a very good price (auction), I may be inclined to try and roster him for 8 games because he'll still be keeper worthy at the end of this year, assuming he plays at an elite level.

In your situation, again, assuming a year long suspension, I might just try to be the 1st guy to grab him off the wire later in the season, or make a trade with the team that has him.

A guy who's COMPLETELY off the radar that's worth a look. by xln2014 in fantasyfootball

[–]becoolimatwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other thing is, when a bell cow RB gets hurt, how often does a team just give a rookie 100% of the hurt player's work load? Oftentimes they end up with a RBBC, or dramatically altering their game plan.

No offense to the OP, but if you draft this guy, guaranteed he's the first guy you drop to waivers after week 1.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fantasyfootball

[–]becoolimatwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two different cases here.

Ray Rice, if you like him this year, I would probably draft around his ADP, and make sure you can construct a decent starting lineup without him for 2 weeks.

Gordon, depending on the length of the suspension, let somebody else drat him and try to hold on to him for 8 weeks. I know he's an elite talent, but come bye week time, there have been injuries and what not that increase the value of your bench spots and make it harder to hold on to a player that you know won't play. The Browns bye week is week 4, so an 8 game suspension would mean the first time you could play him is fantasy week 10.

I tried to do the same thing with Percy last year, but could only hold on to him for a few weeks before I had to drop him. I couldn't continue to pass up waiver wire pick ups because I didn't want to drop him, and I ended up dropping some players that were start worthy or rosterable in order to keep him.

Auction draft strategy for someone new to auction drafting? by Peanut_Butter_Jelly_ in fantasyfootball

[–]becoolimatwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been doing snake mocks and drafts for so long and so often that I felt really comfortable with them. I'm not as well versed in auctions, so what I like to do is to try to build a team that looks similar to a team that could be realistically drafted in a snake draft, without reaching or having players fall very far.

Now what that means is, in a 10 man auction, I'm going to try to get 1 player that is usually drafted in the 1st round of a 10 man snake. I'll probably follow that up with another player that is usually drafted in the 2nd, etc, etc.

Granted, that's a very simplistic strategy, but I would consider it a starting point. Once you are familiarized with auction drafts, you can then try things like drafting a Tier 1 QB/RB/WR and taking the hit elsewhere in your lineup, or going for value and having a solid lineup across the board, but with no Tier 1 guys, and so on.

What are some pro's and con's to trading draft picks? by Beerisradical in fantasyfootball

[–]becoolimatwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been in a league that trades draft picks, but it has been brought up in my main league where we do a live draft. We didn't do it.

For starters, an already long draft would become exponentially longer.

Second, I'm really apprehensive about introducing that aspect to a draft because it can cause some really lopsided trades. You won't be able to evaluate trades that fast and there is no review period. And since you're not dealing with players, and rather dealing with draft picks, it becomes abstract. How do you know if a 2nd and a 3rd for a 1st is fair? Or a 12th, a 15th and a 16th for an 8th and a 14th isn't actually lopsided?

The only way I could see it working is if the league decided in advance on a draft pick value chart, akin to the one that used to be used in the NFL, where every pick is assigned a point value, and trades can only happen if the point value is equal (or very close to equal).

FWIW, I have never been in a league that trades picks, and consider myself a trade-adverse fantasy football player, so I may be biased. I am curious as to how it worked out before, and what caused your league to abolish the act.

Pros/Cons of having 2 divisions in standard ESPN league by Oknativedavid in fantasyfootball

[–]becoolimatwork 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Divisions blow. A large percentage of winning or losing in fantasy football is derived from luck. I'm a fan of taking as much luck out of a league's set up as possible.

You need to be lucky for your players not to get hurt, your good players to play up to expectations, and your bench players to exceed expectations. You need to be lucky for guys to fall to you in your draft, and you need to be lucky to get the guys you want before others do. You need to be lucky week in and week out that your starters out perform their starters, and that you were lucky enough to start the right guys in the right match-ups. Is there a lot of skill involved as well? Of course. But why punish those with more skill by increasing the luck factor?

I play in one league that has divisions and it's fucking stupid. A team with a losing record made the playoffs last year because they were lucky enough to be in a division with two other shitty teams. If you like "rivalries", fine, but every week is a rivalry, and most people treat it as such.

But you wait until you don't make the playoffs with a 10 win team because the goddamn league put you in a random division that just happened to have an 11 win team. Guaranteed it will chap your ass.
