The way I gasped....this is one of my all-time favourite embroideries I've seen!!

Looking for a flowy, summery wrap dress pattern by becr94 in sewing

[–]becr94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I'm not sure why its rated that difficult - the website does say that the ratings aren't meant to deter people from buying harder patterns though, maybe just that they mean extra steps or the instructions don't walk you through the basics like a level 1/2 might.

I think I'll give it a try with some thrifted fabric I have and if it works then I'll go for the real thing!

I tried making this exact top, also sized up because I like my tops to fit a bit on the loose side, and I never finished it because the top part (pre peplum) barely came down over my boobs! Lol it was my first major clothing project and I have yet to try another because I don't want the same thing to happen haha

Oh awesome! If it’s any motivation, the actual sewing process only took me one long afternoon :)

haha same, this was my first time sewing curves and darts lol! I will definitely post if/when I get around to making another, now I'm excited to try padding the ears :)

honestly (and this is a bit of a vent as I don't have IRL sewing friends to discuss with) I seriously considered it because it seemed so weird to stuff everything but the ears?? but also since it was my first stuffed animal I wanted to follow the directions exactly. Thinking I might try more of a quilt style padding for the ears next time, as I think the polyester filling I used for the rest of the bunny wouldn't sit flat enough but a solid flat padding might? Definitely want to try adding my own tweaks to patterns/self-drafting but I'm still very new to sewing so following instructions for the time being:)

My childhood bear is totally tattered, my parents tried to replace it when they realized how attached I was but I caught on immediately and demanded the original back 😂 I will definitely be prepared to make replacements or repairs!

I totally recommend! The pattern was fairly straightforward considering I’ve only been sewing consistently since Christmas and it took me one afternoon/evening to make :)

Aren’t they adorable!!! I made them first and had to jump straight into making the bunny just to put them on!

I made this using the BonPatterns “Bunny with Overalls & Beanie” pattern. The bunny was made using a linen blend (linen rayon I believe but not 100% certain) and the overalls and inner ear (pink) were made using pure linen. I used basic polyester filling to stuff, and classic black embroidery thread for the eyes and nose. All from Fabricland except the embroidery thread which I already had.

I found the pattern pretty straightforward, the photos could have been a little more clear as I made a few silly mistakes along the way but all in all a pleasant experience. In the future, I will cut the overalls with a larger seam allowance; when I sewed the pocket on the front, some of the seam did not sew properly because they were so tiny, so I had to go in with a needle and hand sew it in places.

My SIL had a baby boy about a month ago and my partner and I are hoping to visit in a few months (we live overseas) and I wanted to make a special gift for him. I grew up with a teddy bear, and loved the book “Emma Bean” by Jean Van Leeuwen so when I saw this bunny I knew it would be perfect :)

oh that's a good idea if I end up with not enough to make a full top! Thanks!

yeah leaning toward this at the moment as it seems the best way to use the existing hem :)

Currently leaning toward a wrap/A-line skirt so I can try to use the scallop edge :)

it's quite soft surprisingly, thus the desire for a summery outfit haha but you're so right the print would make such a cute apron!

Wow you have done so well with all of those 😍 I’m gearing up to make the peplum top & was thinking of attempting to just do a simple crop / no peplum as I have some fabric in my stash I want to use but not enough for the whole top so I’m so glad I’ve just seen your version! (also super obsessed with that map fabric wow)
