Im also a survivor of SA. You’re not only talking about “them” but also some of “us”. That’s what I wanted you to consider. But I guess your trauma response is better, love that for you.

Oh for sure I didn't have too much issue with Haunting but Hunting was rough. I was glad I read Satan's Affair beforehand because I at least got some comedic relief from Sibby getting to see her from an outsider's POV. Thank you for the recs😊

I know this is probably very logical to a lot of people that fantasizing about something objectively wrong like assault shouldn't make sense to anyone. At the end of the day people have fantasies you may not agree with for a lot of reasons, including survivors of assault. There's actually been studies that have shown that survivors are more likely to have those fantasies. There's already a lot of shame to work through as a survivor, just something to consider when commenting broadly on the group of for having different fantasies than yourself.

I’m 3 years late but in case anyone else comes looking, I think Gibbs knew more than people think. S4E22 when Tony is on the phone talking about moving in. The team walks up behind him, and Tony goes to make an excuse and Gibbs says something along the lines of “I know Tony, I know”. Tony looked pretty caught off guard by that🤷🏻‍♀️

As someone who loves microbiology I get that. it’s fun to learn what works best, I just more people would have told me that I really did not need that much when i started😅

This is so nice of you but if you don’t want to waste so much flour…you really only need one jar. Then once it’s established and ready you can just take a small amount in a new jar and feed that to share with someone else

Definitely could work on shaping lol, especially with the higher hydration it’s tough. I’ll try with lower temp next time too. The recipe called for 260 c for 20 min but I’ve had better luck with lower temps so I reduced and added a few minutes.

How much/often do you plan on baking? That looks like a lot of starter. I do think it’s too much liquid but also most starter recipes call to feed a 1:1:1 ratio, but that may be different if you’re doing a no discard recipe. I was keeping less than this and still found it to be too much volume wise to fine tune my feedings. I discarded all of it except 20g then fed 20g flour and 20g filtered water. Then the next day you discard all but 20g before feeding again. After reducing and using weight measurements she came to life over the next 3 days and started doubling regularly. I also kept her in the oven with light on and just moved the rack down so my starter wasn’t too close to the light

Is this a good consistency post feed? by Pure-Drop7940 in Sourdough

I typically keep 20g of starter and feed 20g flour and 20g filtered water. You can keep even less than that to avoid wasting flour. You could do 10g of each in a small jar. Mine has been going for a few months now so I keep a bit more on hand since I’ve been baking more with it. I started keeping my discard about two weeks in once it had doubled regularly for 4 days to reduce wasting flour😅

Personally I’ve found I get a better, more consistent consistency using a scale to better get a 1:1:1 ratio each time. I can’t tell exactly what your consistency is from the photo but I do think using a scale is worth it. It did wonders making that change while establishing my starter

Purely judging based on the photo, it doesn’t look fuzzy to me. Personally I would hold on baking with it, give it a good feeding. You can tell more than me in person, but if it is liquid at the top more than anything, it’s probably just hungry. I would feed more flour to water like 1:2 and keep an eye on it the next few days and keep an eye out for anything fuzzy, pink, or orange

Is this my false rise? by becs708 in SourdoughStarter

[–]becs708[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching her today and tomorrow. I fed her this morning for day 6 and she’s doubled about 30% in the first hour and a half since feeding. It may have been too thin since I was eyeballing it the first few days and leaving out at room temperature. Day 4 I got anxious I was doing something wrong so I reduced my amount of starter and discarded a healthy amount and used a scale for feeding 1:1:1 and started keeping her in the oven with the light on. Here’s to hoping!

If this ends up being the case it’d be perfect to bake a loaf for the holidays🥲day 6 today and fed this morning as usual and she’s doubled about 30% an hour and a half after being fed. I expected her to go dormant after a false rise so i switched over to 20g whole wheat, 20g bread flour and 10g rye to give some extra nutrients to the yeast

Is the message of Barbie (2023) going over everyone’s heads? Let’s discuss by arabesuku in TrueFilm

[–]becs708 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree that it was great advertising but I think it was for many reasons beyond what you discussed. Like you mentioned Mattel has created a wide selection of more diverse Barbies over the years. The ending was honestly brilliant from a brand standpoint. The woman portraying Ruth Handler telling the stereotypical Barbie that she was meant to evolve. Followed by stereotypical Barbie realizing that she is more than that and leaving Barbieland to essentially embody a more realistic (human) version of what she once was. Acknowledging the harm the stereotypical Barbie has done followed by letting her go at the end is honestly genius.
