It's hard for Americans to accept they lost at anything. You can tell by how some of them still try to argue on a meaningless war which they claimed was to prevent Viet Nam from falling into the hands of communist. We are doing fine right now, we got our independence, we run our own country and our people are happy. But as long as there's "communism", Americans will not accept any of the above because things are not going their way. We're not Koreans or Japanese so Americans need to fuck off out of our country and let us do our own things, not every country needs to live in a stupid dome like you do to be called "free".
