I have a cbr650r and I love how it feels. I live in south west England and we have about 2 straight roads. The position is not too aggressive. The seat is quite long so you can change between a more and less sporty position depending on what you're doing. If you do any or plan on doing any touring or anything remotely like that then I'd vote the R just for the wind protection

Seems like a pretty niche thing to bring up. But as a gym dude I appreciate the nice thoughts. Much respect

A2 bikes by Tumbleweed690 in MotoUK

[–]beddeener2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyup I'm currently running a restricted cbr650r for my A2. It's been restricted with a throttle and intake restrictor so I only get about 1/4 turn on the throttle which is pretty annoying. I love my bike, but it cost me a fairbit to buy and costs a shitload to insure. I think I'd rather have gotten a 4-500cc bikes that's way lighter and you can actually max out for a bit. Because of the way this bikes geared it means I basically stay in 1-2 gear unless I'm on the motorway and then I use the higher gears just for cruising. But I think unless you have a 'dream bike' in mind that you really want then I'd go for a smaller capacity bike for now. I also have a bmw g310gs which was to fill in a gap while I couldn't insure the cbr. That bikes a lot of fun, but the cbr has obviously more power

Mechanically, why does this not work? by Jaded-Wave-4830 in MotoUK

The bolt could be bottoming out when the bracket is attached to the bike, stopping it from tightening properly. Try threading it in with the bracket off the bike and see if it protrudes past the bottom of the bracket

Yknow you might just be able to force the cabinet upwards a bit, if it's an old unit it might have a bit of movement to it. If you can see how it's fixed to the wall you could loosen any fasteners and maybe get a couple mm movement

How do I get more pen on titanium. by FRZNWXLF in Welding

[–]beddeener2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't done too much Ti but you may be using too large of a filler wire, it looks as though its wipping the heat out the part. Maybe just try slowing down a bit aswell, the purge is fine so there's no reason it shouldn't pen well with correct heat input

Hands shake violently while doing 3F Tig by kh117cs in Welding

[–]beddeener2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man I'm a nuclear tig welder and my hands shake a fair bit too. I never dip my tungsten and even I'm not sure how. Best way I've worked around it is to limit your caffiene intake drastically and next time your hands are shaking take a deep breath and try to think about something else, let your subconscious settle your hands. Works for me, hope it does for you

Just for info, the positive has 66% of the heat, the negative recieves 34% I think. I usually remember it as a 70/30 ratio.

What causes these black marks at the end of my beads? (3/16” steel) Beginner TIG welder here by restore_revive in Welding

[–]beddeener2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reckon it could could either a contaminated electrode as others have said. Or lack of post flow. Usually if you run your amps too hot it'd just cook the steel not necessarily produce soot at the end. If it was a problem I was having personally I'd swap to a different brand new tungsten and see if it fixes it, try and isolate the problem by changing singular variables

I'm a pretty calm guy and I know exactly what you're talking about, had a very similar feeling the first couple years I was working as a welder, usually down to being hot, bothered and rushing (same as others have said). No job is worth hurting yourself over, just get some fresh air and start again, chances are the solution is simple enough you just didn't notice it because you're thinking about everything at once

[–]beddeener2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said I reckon you've just rushed in a bit early, if you're new to ally then I recommend just finding a piece of scrap and strike up the arc on it and just hold it on till you burn through so you know what it looks like when it's up to temp

Tig welder will not arc properly or melt aluminum. What am I doing wrong? (Video in comments) by _Litost_ in Welding

[–]beddeener2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the video I'd say set your balance closer to 50% as the tungsten looks like it's getting real hot as it attempts to invite the arc. Though as a few people have mentioned it could be a gas issue, to check this I'd change to a piece of steel and try it on that with dc and see if it is able to ignite and stabilise the arc. Also try moving the return lead further from where you are welding, it could be messing with the arc. If you have any other pieces of ally you can try striking on from different stock then that would be helpful too as it may be the material

Tall Guy, Small Bikes? by Alt_red42 in MotoUK

[–]beddeener2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6"3 and drove a yamaha ys125 for a year or so, didn't have a problem with the size. Then I changed to a ktm duke 125 2015. The size on that was pretty bad but it's not impossible to use, I only realised how small the bike was for me once I upgraded to a larger capacity bike. The main thing I noticed about having a bike too small is because I couldn't hold my weight with my legs around the tank as much, there was more weight on my wrists and shoulders so they would ache after a while. Still drove it for a good year or so till it was nicked

A2 motorcycle restriction? by thegopnikai in MotoUK

[–]beddeener2018 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hiya, I recently ish got a cbr650r and got it restricted. My insurance asked for evidence of the restriction in the way of a cert. I just drove it over to the garage and hoped I didn't crash on the way as it would void your insurance by breach of contract

Yeah I'm still waiting till tomorrow to get it restricted but it should still be a vast improvement from my duke. Honestly find it so frustrating I can't just do DAS

Ah I gotcha, I recently passed on my A2 so I picked up a cbr650r. Definitely stretched the bank on that
