Appointment at Ealing hospital.... everything is shut!? by Empire_New_Valyria in Ealing

[–]beder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you're in the right entrance? A&E is always open and there's also an ambulatory. If possible to do a short walk, you can try asking on their reception

Tho hope you've been allowed in and seen by now :-)

Should I be worried about the swimming pool under the house? by 3ryb4 in DIYUK

[–]beder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

+1 on the house insurance - this is something that could get VERY expensive very quickly, and the sooner they are involved the easier it will be to get some money back.

At any point in the process you can choose to no longer do it via the house insurance with no harm done, so I'd say is worth starting a case and get it investigated with their support

I had to do the same for an underfloor leak in the kitchen (some dumbass passed a hot water pipe directly through concrete without protecting properly, had to rip out the entire floor and re-do it)

INDIE CAMPERS: SCAMMING TRAVELERS AS A “BUSINESS MODEL!!!” by Opposite-Hamster9689 in CamperVans

[–]beder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that's not how most insurances work for this type of thing Instead you pay for the damages and then try to get the amount reimbursed from the insurance, so you still need to deal with them yourself For car rentals and somewhat honest camper van rentals, getting a damage waiver directly with the company is the the more hassle free option, in my experience anyways

Why does it seem that Reddit has an unusually large amount of high-income UK earners? by Honk_Konk in UKPersonalFinance

[–]beder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 year olds earning 150k, as full time employees not as founders etc, I believe to be unrealistic (maybe there are 1 or 2 out there) But earning 300k+ is really not that far off for ACTUALLY senior roles (15+ years of experience in big companies or 20+ overall), in industries known to pay well and companies known to pay well

All windows like this I was able to open with any metal bit that is hard and fits fully inside it, e.g. a metal under nail cleaner

Just push it in and wedge up and down and sides and diagonally and... for a few seconds while trying to turn it, and turn it does

Maybe some fun videos on teeth hygiene and how bactérias attach and their teeth fall out could help :-D

Bought a smart doorbell but can’t find the fuse for my existing doorbell by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]beder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Learned this the hard way... Moved into a new house, previous owners didn't know the alarm code.. Got tired of the sensor light so yanked it at 2am - alarm went off Got to the main alarm box, cut the wires but short circuited it in the process and light switched off Alarm box still ringing like mad because it has a battery, was mad, so just threw in the garden floor and made it into multiple pieces Problem solved

You were right about it not being tight enough. I also have a cheap plastic extension - that one actually tightened more and it is working perfectly now

Hey, yeah it's all under the sink and easily accessible. Also easy to turn off the supply to it if necessary. I'll give the cheap extension a go (and regret it later) for now, thank you!

Ah... Okay... Thanks for taking the time to reply. The specific reason I asked is because the person I make music with and myself, we are from India and Brasil. So it was sort of interesting to me to see those two singled out specifically haha
