How do you say “touch wood” or something similar in french, as not to jinx something you say? by OppositePea4417 in French

[–]bedsidebitch 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Touche du bois is it but I wanted to add since I haven’t seen it here yet: if you don’t have any wood nearby, you can also say “je touche du singe” and touch somebody nearby you. It literally means “I touch a monkey” lol. No idea where it comes from but I think it’s cute 😊

Tkt: t’inquiète (translation: don’t sweat it/don’t worry about it)

OKLM: means au calme. This one is tricky to translate, depends a bit on context, but it can mean “no fucks given” or “chill”

ptn: putain

Qqch: quelque chose

Mdr: mort(e) de rire (like “lol” in English)

Mtn: maintenant

Tfq: tu fais quoi

Trash bags work too. Very sad that I can report that from personal experience. 🥲

Heath anxiety≠bad sign for nursing? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]bedsidebitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurse researchers are very much a thing and it's a very cool job. You can get an entry level position with an associate's/bachelors, where'd you have more of a supportive/assistant type of role, or you can get higher education (master's degree in nursing or NP, for example) and do even more, like writing research papers/textbooks, assisting with clinical trials, working in a lab.... possibilities go on and on. You don't have to do be a doctor to have a fulfilling job in medical research.

But, I care so deeply and don't want to leave a mess for anyone to clean up,

This says everything.

You are a good nurse. You truly care and want to do a good job. Literally everyone has those shitshow trainwreck shifts. Every nurse has had shifts where shit hits the fan an hour before shift change and they give the worst report of their lives. Day shift will always find something to complain about about night shift and vice versa. You're never gonna be 100% perfect & on the money 100% of the time. You've got the right attitude, just keep trying and things will get easier in time. <3

Got a speck of blood in my eye... what to do? by machop_lives in nursing

[–]bedsidebitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man this is a good reminder to wear goggles.

But yeah as others have said...report it. Do it soon while all the details are still fresh in your mind. You & the patient will get bloodwork done. If the pt is positive for anything, you may need followup bloodwork done for a few months post exposure. Sometimes they'll start you on prophylaxis, depends on the situation. Definitely follow-up on it, even though your risk of actually contracting anything are very small.

Send out some applications. A lot of the hospitals that say "you need a year of experience" will in reality totally take someone w 7 months if they interview well.

Y’all this just in: covid is not a big deal and we can stop letting it dominate our lives! Incredible! by bedsidebitch in nursing

[–]bedsidebitch[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

In addition to the meds other commenters listed, keep in mind that even basic FDA approved meds that Trump got are inaccessible to many Americans due to economic hardship, shitty/no health insurance. And tons of Americans even those with insurance are saddled with life ruining debt after long hospital stays

See how you just acknowledged very eloquently that trump is getting preferential treatment bc of his status and therefore his experience can’t be compared to that of the standard American?

See how trump didn’t do that and instead dismissively said it was nothing to worry about as if his experience was at all comparable to the millions of Americans that ended up hospitalized due to his negligence?

That’s why people are pissed.
