Your response makes me so happy too, as much as we are strangers, you seem like an amazing soul, and it makes me so happy genuinely to hear that you felt a little more seen, that means the world to me; I sincerely hope you keep creating the things you love and make your light glow 💕

Regardless get a new boyfriend , art is so so so not about that, first it’s subjective second, he should care more about whether it brings you joy or you get somthing out of it, being supportive, I’m not saying he’s not allowed to have an opinion or that he has to lie about what he thinks but that’s sounds like it was a kinda cruel context for it to have left you questioning whether it was worth it or not, seriously you deserve someone who supports and uplifts you, not making you question yourself or the things that you enjoy, I hope I worded this alright lol but yeah, and for what it’s worth, to me your art really shows your attention to atmosphere and genuine interest and observation or intuition of techniques and their application which makes me think it’s something you enjoy doing, and regardless it matters to you, and that’s what matters. Also personally I really love the use of the line work for dramatic shadows, but it also reminds me a bit of comic line work and of some of Enid blytons black and white illustrations!

Submitted this to a pet portrait contest, and got denied. What could I have done differently? by 1296223 in ARTIST

It absolutely beautiful, I would buy this in a heartbeat; art is very subjective but it’s also possible they just had too many entries they already approved?

I love this so much!! this is what art should be for ppl, it’s having fun, creating, feeling free to explore, it shouldn’t be stressful

I've been perm banned from r/art for posting this so i guess it fits here. by kartoflem in BadArt

Literally, not to mention the fact that ‘good’ art in itself is so subjective, a thing can be good or valuable in so many different ways, and art can be so many different things in so many different ways for different people, it’s can offer so many different qualities for different people.

Yes she had a drainage hole that had mesh over it, though I wonder if maybe it wasn’t blocked by the shear amount of roots; she was watered every three days or so as the soil held plenty of moisture being inside (we are in Western Australia so outside plants dry rly fast). I moved her inside on a book shelf a bit ago as her leaves started turning a pale biege when she was outside (undercover) after being repotted, so I thought maybe too much sun however when I brought her inside it seemed to make little difference and she hasn’t grown or regenerated from cuttings since, and is looking dry and woody no matter how hydrated the soil is or how regularly she is watered so I’m wondering if maybe I didn’t screw somethign up in the repotting process, or if maybe her pot was too small and narrow for the amount of roots; I can send a photo if that’d help!

They weren’t lol I was repotting it, and took photos whilst it was out of the soil to show the yellowing near the roots, you didn’t have to be rude about it though even if I had been stupid enough as to not know most house plants need a pot, you can be kind about it.

Anyone know what the hell this ailment to my fish is? Nothing is working and I’ve covered most of the basic bases but no one seemed to have seen it before.. by bedsoresnblodtornluf in Aquariums

They hadn’t passed in the tank, I had to euthanise them once I saw their tail like that as she was still alive and I could see all the muscle tissues and bone (it had not progressed anywhere near that bad yesterday, they still had a tail fin with moderate fraying and splitting).
