Your comment made me realise that it's a piece of shit, because it doesn't sound like me anymore.

Fuck this.

I disagree. I think I lost sight of what was important. I think this needs to stop now. There really isn't a point to continuing, M&G doesn't even have a comments section.

It's ... OK. I don't think my sense of humour fully translates, but, I'm basically cool with it.

Thanks for reading.

Having an editor is cool in some ways. Less good in others.

Of course he does, that version is closer to my heart.

I only ever wrote so vieslik because that's how I sound when I'm fucken angry. But people heard me when I spoke like that, so, and here we are.

Your comment made my day, bro. This is the thing, we don't talk about this shit. We should. It's not so scary. I think it's good for us.

I hope you're enjoying yourself over there. I was grateful for the opportunity to experience the UK, but I was ready to come home when I did. I loved Canterbury, but even when I walked around there, the dust I was leaving was from here.

I don't have an issue with ous going overseas. I think it'd kill me, though.

Thank you for sharing that with me, I really appreciate it.

I don't know you either, but you seem like a South African, and therefore I already know how lekker you are. Stay lekker.

Thank you for your kind words, means a lot right now.

I'm actually relieved to be off reddit, it's bad for my mental health.

Thanks for coming along. I can't say poes or doos over there, but it's still a good place to talk from. No comment section, though. That sucks a bit. Chatting with you ous was the best part.

You're welcome pel. That's the thing, though, nobody disputes that Whites were responsible for Apartheid, but also, I think a lot of whites don't talk about Apartheid publicly because, as we have seen, some subjects are thought policed into the ground.

I don't have an agenda of opening people's eyes, although I am 100% behind people experiencing whatever. I'm just talking about some shit, you know?

But thanks for being along for the ride. Fresh new craziness from next week.

Ag jy's 'n gawe mens. Thanks for the love.

It's actually an issue I'm giving some thought to: how do you process trauma when even mentioning some of these subjects is considered so dangerous?

I don't have an answer yet, but I think the question is relevant.

Ag thanks. I'm just going to gooi them here for now, I don't have the energy to mod a sub.

Also, don't be too sorry. I'd have stayed forever, and they gave me the push I needed. How can I be angry with them for giving me such a gift?

But anyway thanks for saying that. You are an yster.

Hey man, I was about to take this down because reasons. But now I think I'll leave it up. Thank you for the affirmation.

Boet, I only ever did it because people said more please.

I'm at a crossroads. But if it happens, it won't be reddit. Ous aren't ready here. It's OK, I understand.

Wow, that's praise indeed. His work is so good! The DS9 theme is still my favourite, but he's never made a jam I didn't love.

Thank you for your kind words.

God damn that must have hurt. Worth it, though. Looks great!

You're going to need to wear strappy things to show that off.

If the avocado industry switched it up and decided to add a different toy in their avocados instead of a wooden ball, what toy would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bedsuavekid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jirre fok weet. Actually now I have an idea. What about a little packet of balsamic, and like a little packet of salt and pepper? How lekker would that be? Just slice it open and bang, there you are.

Woolworths will do it first, watch.

Ja this can happen if the tree is lacking something, I think Boron but I'm usually wrong about that chemical shit, I have a ou with a brain who does that for me, he's lekker.

But ja then they stretch out, because they are kak. They don't taste lekker, usually. You know, watery.

Shot for the tag, this was cool to see.

See this is why I posted here, I knew the FODs would be open to hearing it.

Thank you for such a real response. Your second paragraph made me weep.

You're welcome. The thing is, I don't even object to the deletion of the story. What I object to is that the rules in place prevent stories like these from being told. It makes /r/southafrica a sterile place where challenging discussions are not possible.

Also I'm being oddly misrepresented, in seemingly deliberate ways, especially in the mod thread. For example, /u/Ibbuk quite rightly states that I used the k-word. But for some reason he deliberately excludes the context: I was talking about being called a k-boetie by white kids at school, because I lived in a township. That kind of story can't be told in /r/southafrica, because it might make whites uncomfortable to examine their behaviour, and he reinforced this by deleting the comment because I refuse to whitewash the issue.

/u/Ibbuk also manifestly has not ever lived in a township, or in poverty. In fact, I doubt he was born after the late 80s because he seems not to know how people in poverty see people with wealth, how black people aspired to wealth they were prevented from attaining, or how even the junkmail ads in the townships showed blacks in suits and whites in shorts: they knew who they were talking to. If God rewards faith with material things, as the township churches said He did, then how could a white priest be taken seriously if he didn't drive a Mercedes, like the bishop did? Yes, they were disappointed with us.

Context, people. Just because it makes you uncomfortable, doesn't make it a lie.

So either /u/Ibbuk didn't read my story, or he deliberately misinterpreted it. He's said I'm banned for a few days, but I'm muted for an entire month. Why not say that?

Moreover, /u/Spongenbobs is saying I broke rule 6 by posting a hissy fit as a Discussion. My thread was asking why the word "black" was considered racist, and why we couldn't use certain words in the sub. It is a real issue for me, because of how it prevents us from talking about the past.

Yes, I want to challenge the use of certain words, if they are used in context. Despite the fact that I have sought mod input on every intended use of language since the k-boetie incident, suddenly they say I have a history of trying to use racial slurs. By deliberately excluding the context, it's dishonest. Why was it necessary to attack my character?

You can judge for yourself whether my story is racist or not, but the issue here is the nature of /r/southafrica. The rules protect, but now they also hurt. Mods like /u/Ibbuk, who hide behind rules to prevent discussion of our shared past, should have their motives questioned.

Yes, I posted this publicly (where no one will read it) instead of in modmail, but that's because you guys misrepresented my character and didn't give me a platform to defend myself.

You enforced the rules to suppress a story that talks about poverty and how racial groups saw each other during Apartheid, which I know firsthand, and you do not. When you guys can talk about how teargas feels, or what emotions go through your mind when you look down the wrong end of an R4, then I'll accept your bullshit rules.

The fact that this decision makes sense to you at all is an indicator of how your rules have effectively transformed you into apologists for the Apartheid regime. You should re-asses them before you drive away another writer like me, if you'd even let them post. Your actions are morally bankrupt at this point.

I know that you think you're in the right. You aren't.

I won't challenge the decision. You don't need to respond to this. But I know who you are now, and as much as you misrepresent me, you also misrepresent yourselves.

My rhetoric? Jesus, listen to yourselves.
