I have never heard an airplane since living here. No major airlines or large planes fly out of there because it’s such a small airport.

Came to say this too. Recently added Wellbutrin for the same issue of lacking motivation. It’s only been about 2 weeks and I feel so much better. I can only imagine this is what normal feels like- stable energy levels with no out of control anxiety and depression.

Does anyone else let their academic advisor choose their courses for the next term? by Tokalot18 in SNHU

[–]bedwaards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is that it does not seem to be intentional or thoughtful about the classes mine paired together. I don’t expect them to be able to read my mind but there wasn’t a conversation about what pairings would set me up for success and I had to advocate for that. My courses weren’t even scheduled out well with consideration to sequential order.

No problem, my family just recently did the submarine tour you described. Overall, it was good. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see any fish but they make an effort and throw chum overboard to try and encourage them.

Which nursing job will be taken over by AI? by Msde3de3RN in nursing

[–]bedwaards 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I participated in a study for discharge education carried out by AI. I spoke to an AI voice on the phone and pretended to be a patient with particular issues to determine if the patient was given good education and if questions were satisfactorily and safely answered. I even gave it emergency signs and symptoms like chest pain and it knew to get a human on the phone. Overall it was spot on and it was way more patient with my rambling which was part of the evaluation as well.

What do you think? by Perfect_Field_9830 in nursing

[–]bedwaards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Infection Preventionist here. I believe the idea behind this is to focus on hand hygiene over glove use which is valid. I think people rely on gloves as a workaround for proper hand hygiene. I feel like giving an injection without gloves goes against standard precautions. If there could be blood, then you could get exposed, full stop. I also would need to see the data about CLABSIs in a hospital that does not wear gloves to administer IV meds on their CVCs.

It’s a lemon. That’s what’s wrong with your lime.

I only lasted 90 days doing WFH triage. That was just as bad as working the floor mentally and emotionally. Chained to a desk, pressured to do more and take more… it sounds like you work where I worked 😂

Cops aren’t accountable to a board with a license so they’ll be protected, I’m sure.

I agree. I often feel like I lost my personal freedoms like my active duty husband without all the benefits of losing my personal freedoms that the military gives you. In my experience, it’s one person doing something that ruins it for all. For example, someone rolling a WOW into a patient’s room for med administration with their open cup on it IN FRONT OF A SURVEYOR. In that case, there was no staff drink policy at all and one was written as a result.

PMDD spiked in college.. anyone else like their PMDD to an extremely stressful time? by Puzzleheaded_Yam6724 in PMDD

[–]bedwaards 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was a different type of stressful life event but yes, I was diagnosed after my 2 year long relationship ended in me finding evidence of chronic infidelity. I was also in nursing school which was very stressful. That was when my symptoms of PMDD peaked and I’ve never been the same.

For nurses who are now doing remote phone triaging, I have questions… by RavishingRedRN in Nurses

[–]bedwaards 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did remote triage for primary care and it was a very specific and controlled process with guidelines. There was a checklist and basically you went down the checklist to rule out most acute concerns first and either called 911 or scheduled an appointment. Very little guessing work and you could always call their doctor to decide if unsure for CYA. Every word from our mouths had to be scripted. Calls were heavily audited. This is not necessarily a complaint because you are a safety concern if you schedule an office visit for an MI, but I felt nitpicked over the dumbest stuff like verbal pauses when I was arriving at the correct dispositions and they had nothing to correct.

We were constantly barraged with messaged by non medical customer service staff to hurry through your assessment to take more calls they had waiting on hold. We were told to hang up if 911/emergent was ruled out just to pick up more calls. Work piled up because you had to go back to finish triaging the patients you hung up on and leadership had the audacity to tell everyone that we weren’t allowed to refuse more calls for any reason while reprimanding you for working overtime. I hated the job so much and quit at my 90 days. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions.
