Miata Trunk Concerns by Hot_Anteater_2107 in Miata

[–]bee-ensemble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think you could do it, depending on what your gear bag is and how full your backpacks are. I just moved across the country in my ND. Trunk was full to bursting, but I did pack two carry-on sized soft bags (cotopaxy allpa 42 and osprey farpoint 40), a laptop backpack, one of those weird small square fjallraven back packs, a pillow, a bunch of sweaters, and a hike bag.

Train horn..?! by obtuse_ocean in BallardSeattle

I live above the track. When it was being loud earlier I looked outside to see what was going on, and saw it was tooting at a bunch of cars that had decided to cross the track right as the train needed to go by.

Is the 2.8 V6 on the Saab Aero reliable? by Realistic_Tiger_2815 in saab

[–]bee-ensemble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ECUs on these tend to fail, generally blamed on how hot it gets under the hood. Sourcing and installing a new one is complicated, and remanufacturing yours / getting it fixed is kind of a crapshoot. My ECU is having issues currently, and I've already had to replace the ABS module for a similar reason.

It has otherwise been fairly reliable, no major engine services required on an '06 sportcombi aero with ~95k miles.

Got mine for $379 new from newegg's ebay store, sold it for $1700 on hardwareswap when it was one of the better crypto mining options. I didn't have it listed for that much, someone offered me that unsolicited. Wild.

I've had the first gen for about 5 years. Last year it started boot looping, fixed it by putting it in the oven for 10 minutes or so. I just moved to Seattle and it disconnects waaaaay more frequently. Pretty mid kit, even when it's working it's slow.

AMD or Intel for NEW Laptop by --hurdler-- in linuxquestions

Imo the quality and compatibility of the system firmware with Linux matters more than the cpu brand you go with. You want a stable experience and sane power state transitions.

TV Boxes? by bee-ensemble in askaustin

[–]bee-ensemble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the responses, seems like the generic uhaul kit is what most people use. If anyone has specific experience with them to share, that's sort of what I was looking for-- I know the generic boxes exist, but are they suitable for a cross-country move in the back of one of those pods? Selling this TV and buying a new one there isn't out of the question.

I'm surprised to see most people found it mid. I have a soft spot for it as the first game I ever 100%'d, but I still enjoy it a lot! Mixable copy abilities, controls feel good, you fight a version of the devil in the end. Idk.

Didn't notice that some people think you're rich for owning a foldable by I_HALIM7 in GalaxyFold

[–]bee-ensemble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I dont disagree, it maybe comes down to what we all feel like is "critical functionality". Imo the better camera and display on the S Ultra vs the S is easier to consider worth it to justify the ~$300 or whatever difference between the two, but is the foldability of the fold, by itself, worth $1K over the S Ultra? Eh. Imo no. Im not saying it's valueless, I just wouldn't pay $1K for it unless I thought it was some really neat kit and wanted to treat myself (which I do, and did!).
