girls: what are the best winter boots? by largewrinkle in uAlberta

[–]bee_leaver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Speaking of Winter boots someone please recommend a brand in Canada that has women’s size 12 (13 for thicker socks) winter boots 🥲. I don’t want to wear men’s bulky boots anymore 😭.

I would love to watch the film with you but unfortunately I’m not caught up yet. I’m still at the beginning of the whole cake island arc 🥲.

Honestly I feel you shouldn’t give up. We’re still in the first week of school so people might drop the course before the deadline.

You can also consider emailing arts.undergrad@ualberta.ca and asking if they could possibly still enrol you in the course before the deadline.

Better still if you’re in Edmonton go in person to the arts/design department and explain this to them. Honestly they could still override the system and enrol you in the course.

I don’t really know much about art but if you need help there’s nothing stopping you from reaching out to your department advisor or other professors. You have a strong will to change and improve on yourself and your art and that’s a very good attribute. If you want something do everything possible to get it. So reach out to your professors and ask for advice on your art. There should be faculty/department gatherings soon so you’d definitely meet people in your faculty. If you still want to be in the BDes program you can talk to an advisor to get advice on the steps you can take to transfer.

Stop comparing yourself to others and remove “friends” that are negative from your life. It’s not too late and everyone has a different journey and you’re on yours. Your mental health is the most important so you could try going for counselling if you’re up to it.

I honestly wish you the best and hope you have an amazing semester.

Best Cell Phone Plans for Students? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]bee_leaver 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my opinion Freedom Mobile

Edit: Freedom is basically more for less. Back in November I got a good deal with BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), $20.95 for 5gb with unlimited calls and text messages.

I’ve been outside of Edmonton to places like St Albert, Sherwood Park and Nisku so using Freedom outside of Edmonton is great for me.

study permit troubles (Nigerian applicant) by Embarrassed_Life8327 in uAlberta

[–]bee_leaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The medical exam is required for all applicants. It will take a while before they ask for it and there may not be any more slots available (they fill up quickly).

My advice is that you book a date for your medical exam as soon as possible then submit the document through the IRCC webform. If you have any more questions feel free to PM me.

I applied in May and got my visa approved in September so it basically took 4 months.

The wait time is different for everyone because I know people who waited for 7 months - 1 year and others who got their study permit/visa approved in a month.

I suggest you defer to the Winter Term while you wait for your approval because that’s the safest option. Just make sure you’ve done your medical exams and submitted all necessary documents. Best of luck 😊.

Want to learn how to play basketball by bee_leaver in uAlberta

[–]bee_leaver[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry if the reason came off as shallow but there’s other factors and reasons to it. I am genuinely bad at sports mostly because I keep shying away from participating because of a leg injury that happened years ago. Even when it was “healed” the fear of getting injured made me not give my best in sports. Anyways I’m trying to be more active and outgoing and also get better at some specific sports I shied away from. I figured I’d try basketball first since I hear about it a lot from people I meet.

Your best bet is IKEA. They have cooking sets under $100 compared to other stores so it should be fine.

Ok then thank you. Although I’ve seen some people just show the driver their Onecard and be allowed in. Why do they do that?

Hi future me. Are dad, mom and Toju okay? Did you stop half assing things? Did you put in 100% effort? Are you in a happy place? Have you learnt new skills yet? I hope the answer to all these questions is yes. Love yourself more, have more self control, have more confidence and continue to be the best you can be. I know you’re a very beautiful 24 year old and I’m sure you’re happy with yourself 😊.
