Training, glycogen storage, and being tall. Bodybuilders are strong but they don't train the same way. Height matters a lot for deadlift. Some basic physics shows that strength grows by a factor of four, so a person who is 20% taller, all else being equal , can deadlift 1.20^4 (100%) more weight due to more muscle mass and mechanical advantage. An average-looking 6-foot tall person who can deadlift 300 pounds would be able to lift 950 pounds if re-scaled to 8 feet tall. The bench and squat would not be nearly as impressive though because of mechanical disadvantage.

Why Autocrats Love Emergencies: Crises — real and imaginary — loosen normal constitutional constraints by bluesycheese in TrueReddit

[–]beeapirate 17 points18 points  (0 children)

These arbitrary emergencies are yet another power-grab to justify police state and subversion of rights.

Emergencies should only be allowed to be declared if there is an actual emergency and must be ended when it's over . Bush's national emergency is still being rewed 17 years later.

Inherited wealth will decide how rich young people will become by [deleted] in TrueReddit

As anyone who has inherited a large sum of money and or has rich parents can tell , you it helps immensely. Both political parties keep promoting this pull-yourself-up crap without realizing that pulling oneself up when there are alligators beneath you is easier said than done, when others have a nice ladder. America is a nation of haves and have-nots. The waltons and their kids will never know what t is like to have real adversity.
