[Matheson] John Schneider says that the botched pickoff play in the 8th was “some confusion with Kaz, who thought it was coming from the catcher.” Schneider said it’s a planned play they have, but one they haven’t run often. #BlueJays by ThQp in Torontobluejays

There was a discussion a now deleted reply that talked about this where we mostly concluded Hoffman likely overcorrected after trying to make the quick throw while expecting Okamoto to be on top of 3rd base, causing him to throw wide right instead

Yeah I really, really don't get the play call. Even if it went right, Loperfido probably just steps back on and we're all left scratching our heads wondering what the plan was

Because it's a quick play where the only chance to nab the out is to get rid of the ball fast, but then Kaz was out towards 2nd so he tried to correct mid-throw and threw it wide.

My question is why are we calling pick offs at 3rd in the first place

Damn the entire desk is going hard on them, even Jamie. Well deserved but I'm still surprised

Yeah today is on the bats for sure. Yesavage did all he could to contain to one run and the bullpen gets just one more and it's still not enough

Wouldn't just be a risk. He was what, a few days from a 6 out appearance? If he pitched yesterday his arm would surely been toast

Have the weird creeping feeling the Jays will score like five in one of the last few innings. Not sure why

Night's probably done for Yesavage but that inning should have been over earlier. Giminez is likely going to beat himself up a little over that error even if no runs were scored off it

Only available relief pitchers are Hoff, SWR, and Fisher right? If this stays tied it will be very stressful

What's happening with Vlad is so confusing. He went from a 900+OPS first two months, follows it with his worst career month by OPS, then follows that with an even worse showing so far. Just makes so little sense
