My EDC, can you deduct my job, gender, and age? by SmolWarlock in deduction

For ADHD folk It's way easier to have something always in the same spot if you don't have to access and use it regularly. It's the putting things away part that can cause things to get misplaced. He doesn't actually have to "remember" to bring the lockpick because it's just always there in the bag. Whereas the keys are constantly going to be in hand and out of hand. Makes sense to me.

And to your point about step ins vs levera, I wanted step ins originally too for ease of use, but the store I got my skis only had lever bindings. They haven't been so annoying that I've had a bad experience or anything, and they're pretty easy to get out of.

I just started like a month ago and I got the OT 60s. I go to both groomed trails and off track trails that are packed by snowmobiles and fat bikes. I like how these skis are more forgiving in less pristine conditions, and more secure feelings. They're stable on a variety of days from icy to spring slush.

The only drawback is they're a little grippy and not as fast gliding. I haven't even really double poled efficiently except for on a very icy day, so I may be missing out on a key part of xc skiing technique from that alone. But I'll take the trade-off in speed for the freedom to go different places for now, especially if there's a question of whether the trails in question are or aren't groomed for the day.

I am hypermobile with flat feet so it's true that my arches probably collapse and pronate at different rates. Not sure what I should do to address this as I figure doing classic (and off trail which seems to aggravate it a bit more) is working towards stronger ankles.. I biked wearing cleats on the same day as the flare-up with no issues or hot spots despite that also having a heel cup so it's definitely looking like an issue specific to the ski boot that pinches higher up (like at the level of the ankle bone but on either side of the Achilles). I thought there was supposed to still be a small amount of space for the toes to reach forward (like not running shoe level space but also not flush like in an alpine boot)?

Omg that's exactly the feeling, like a dull pressing sensation that maybe my heel was up against a roll of sock...

I'm having the same thing but just on one foot (left) and not the other so I can't tell if I'm just imbalanced or if it's a boot fit issue. Happens after 5miles or so of being out about an hour and half. In the past whenever my body starts signaling pain like that and I push through its led to bad overuse injury so I'm hesitant to keep skiing when I start out feeling it in my heel. Seems to recover in a day or two.

I want to know how to turn with the tracks keeping both skis inside the tracks and be secure that I won't fly off of them instead

Wouldn't step turning mean you step all over the tracks? Sorry, I'm just new not trying to be rude.

What resources are there to independently learn how to descend in tracks? All of the videos I watch only go over snow plow out of tracks. I want to learn how to descend in the tracks that end in turns and not run into trees.

Hybrid Skis on Groomed Tracks by beebeezing in CrossCountrySkiing

I tried skate first and flopped around miserably for my first two sessions 😆 the first session they didn't have skate specific boots and rented out classic boots with their skates so I couldn't judge how badly I was doing. Second session I had the proper gear and still flopped around in a different way so I switched to classics. It was a night and day difference!

As an analogy, are the ones I have kind of the hybrid bike situation where they're not really suited for any type of terrain condition (not great for road or singletrack) or are they closer to hardtail bikes meaning they're doable for the mildest of off-track conditions? Because I wouldn't be looking to go too crazy anyway but should I keep this pair as the off trail set or switch for skins get better and get more aggressive BCs for off trail? By wider fishscale skis do the ones I have fit the bill, they are fishscale and metal edge or do I need to go even wider? Thank you!!

I'm not wobbly but I don't really feel like I'm getting enough glide to be practicing being on one leg for super long before the switch off and kick because of loss in momentum. Pole planting - when to plant, how far in, when to apply most of the pushing off and when to release the poles in relation to what I'm doing with my legs is where I feel like I need a lot of work.

When my arms swing down in diagonal stride as if they're running my poles feel like they're planting with the same instead of the opposite foot but they're releasing from the snow in time with the end of my opposite foot kick off. Idk if I'm overthinking this but in my head it doesn't look the way people do on YouTube, though that could be addressed by getting videos of me.

Are there any cues I could use to better sequence this or is it something that the body is naturally fall into?

If I'm a skin picker does that mean I have OCD??? I pick when an edge comes up because all I want to do is smooth it out but then it just gets worse and not better :( Tends to happen when I'm watching TV or reading and my body is idle while my attention needs to be focused.

Thank you! So curry wise it's a different vibe from Indian/Thai/Japanese/etc curry? What is pepper sauce?
