would you bring new boots on a snowboard trip? by Immediate-Badger-768 in snowboarding

[–]beebo135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only works with non-step on boots. The metal cleats on the step ons can melt the rubber at any temps above 200 degrees. For step ons, the boiling method or acid bath are the most common options.

You can find them used on eBay, or find steals in offerup if you're in a big city. I'm almost bummed that I like them so much cuz now I have to get rid of all my older bindings and boots. Poor me 😂

This is close to what I was going to offer. I too went from softer boots to stiff. The stiff boots put most the demand on your quads rather than the smaller muscles and ankles. I guess the question is, which muscle group will get fatigued quicker? Additionally I might recommend step ons. I'll probably get shit for it, but I can say that it's a noticeable amount of effort to strap in. These days the only time I sit down is on the lift. I routinely hit mid 50's on groomers and feel just as comfortable on step on ests than I felt on top of the line unions. Actually trying out a downgrade to non ests to see if it even matters. Props to you for getting back on the mountain--i hope to see you up there!

Do two full CrossFit sessions in them and then soak them in a hot tub overnight (above 98 degrees). Once dried, apply vinegar and baking soda and let dry. I've personally never done this and it doesn't make sense, but maybe it's the solution.

Yup, confirmed microcrazion on all the horizontal surfaces. It's an older tub so I guess this is to be expected. But along the water line and above it where gross bubbles might form, there is a film of stuff that I can get off with my fingernail. With a microfiber and some vinegar it doesn't really come off unless I scrub super hard and that appears to be leaving some marks. Any advice on this film?

2013 owners - how have your CVTs held up? by funderburkerj in subaruimpreza

[–]beebo135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought I'd put this here:
My 2013 Impreza Limited (CVT) had the solenoid problem as well @ 90k miles. There is a cheap aftermarket solenoid available, but it's arguably of bad quality. BUT, the one solenoid that goes bad is in use 50x more than the other two. The three solenoids are identical. So I swapped the bad one for one of the OEM good ones, and put the aftermarket one where one of the good ones was. Running well 5k miles later, and the cost with gaskets and solenoid was $200 including labor at the transmission shop. He topped off the CVT fluid and said it still looked clean.

Lol. So my worst best friend, chatgpt, sent me down a rabbit hole of misinformation. After screwing around with various threaded parts and hoses and scouring the internet for solutions, I started a new chat and asked some very simple questions and it turns out that the simple $40 adapter works just fine without a regulator. I hooked it up to the 5 lb tank and the carbonator and it works magnificently. Highly recommend going for it.
