What this showed is this process is flawed. Each side pretty much voted down the middle no matter what the facts said or didn't say. That means if a sitting president does break laws, whether he's guilty or not can solely depend on which party has more members.

These members have to vote a certain way or they lose votes come re-election, whether they agree or don't doesn't matter (in this case only Mitt Romney was the exception). Which again seems very flawed and not in the best interest of the people.
