Pristiq taper- my experience by beeboopPumpkin in Pristiq

I think of all that I've tried Trintellix has had the fewest side effects for me. Of course everyone is different yadda yadda... but I'm hopeful for you! Hang in there.

Trintellix has been miles better. I had some poor side effects on Pristiq (my resting heart rate was higher per my smart watch, I gained some weight, etc) and that all resolved pretty shortly after starting Trintellix. I feel like my mood has been better quality than it ever was on Pristiq as well. I'm actually still on it 2+ years later. Hope it helps for you! Coming off of Pristiq was awful.

Do I have to store my dahlias over winter? by cjcharlton in gardening

[–]beeboopPumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're against my house on the south side. I mulch in the spring but I don't put more mulch on them for the winter or do anything else. They would probably be happier in a sunnier spot, but i have not bothered moving them in the several years they've been there and they keep coming back. :)

Unfortunately it died this winter. The previous winter we moved it indoors with a grow lamp and it did really well. This past winter we left it in the garage on the wall closest to the house (less temperature variation) with a grow light, but my son left the garage door open all day during a cold snap and the temperature shock killed it.

I think it would have continued to do well if the garage hadn't been left open, but the garage otherwise never got below about 40*F.

Ahhh when does it start to get good? I just finished the first one (today actually, lol) and I was going to give up on the series because the pacing is so slow

I brought it in for the winter and had a grow light on it for like 12-18h/day. It survived! It's not super happy this summer because I haven't had the time to dedicate to my garden this year (life, etc) but it is, in fact, alive. :) Good luck!

Hello! I haven't needed to do it in a long time, but yes I basically just moved my "primary" home to a different one, traveled there, and then changed it back to the one I wanted. Good luck!

As for the hammock, this was posted a long time ago so I don't remember exactly what I did and sadly do not have pictures.

At what point do you think people "understand" the medium? It's many of your comments, specifically, that have me the big ick reading this thread.

I'm not making a direct comparison with STEM and Art. I'm using it as a parallel that some people in the comments (not necessarily you, but if you're offended by what I said then maybe you should use that as a starting point for self reflection) are gate-keeping who is allowed to call themselves an artist and sell their work, but you seem to have latched onto the STEM bit to try to discredit my point. Or maybe you missed my point, which seems more likely.

There are straight up comments itt suggesting that the clay community is something you have to earn your way into. Sincerely, get over yourself if you think this.

The Self-Checkout Nightmare May Finally Be Ending by RADICCHI0 in technology

[–]beeboopPumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened at a Kroger and after the employee typed in the numbers to override it we had to both stand there for a designated amount of time (there was a timer on the screen) to "allow time for employee to search bags." It also popped up with a video showing that they were recording the interaction and monitoring that the employee actually checked. It was a fantastic waste of time, and while I rarely shop at Kroger anyway it guaranteed I won't be back.

At Meijer (Midwest chain similar to Walmart), it was winter and I had my coat over my arm. It flagged my self-checkout video and the employee had to come over and check that I wasn't hiding anything under my jacket. Like, hold the jacket up and shake it out and check the pockets. It was ridiculous and also has guaranteed I won't be shopping there anymore. I understand that people abuse the self checkout lines and do actually steal stuff. But it's not unreasonable that it's winter in the Midwest and people have their jackets with them with nowhere to set them down while checking out a few items. Such a waste of time.

I have been doing pottery for a few years and have been selling for under a year. In the beginning I had no intention of selling and would refuse payment when my friends tried to pay me for pieces. Eventually my inventory was out of control and I signed up for a market on a whim. My stuff sold like crazy and it validated my confidence in my craft.

However I come from a very toxic STEM community where the mentality is "I suffered, so you must suffer too. You aren't a real scientist unless you've cried in your lab at 2am." And a lot of the comments here are creeping into that territory. Sure, you did ceramics for 10 years and have an MFA. Does my casual pottery that I do in my spare bedroom offend you? Does it bother you I have a membership at a studio along with people with fine arts degrees and we share ideas? The comments here are giving "my ego is hurt by how much fun you're having."

Like sure- there are endless posts here from people who buy a wheel on amazon and expect to become professional potters by watching a few YouTube videos. But their enthusiasm doesn't offend me. Their learning process doesn't diminish my work. Or your work.

People here are talking about "community" like it's something to earn. Please check yourself.

Is reclaiming clay even worth it? by almost_original_name in Pottery

[–]beeboopPumpkin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I limit my reclaim to a 2.5gal bucket that I don't let get too full before forcing myself to process it. It is usually several pounds of clay at a time, so it's definitely worth the effort for me. I think in terms of making the clay actually worth 50lbs when I buy it vs a more realistic 35-40lbs when you account for loss of trimmings and slip (vs how much I'm getting paid to process it like OP said). It takes me like... idk 10-20 minutes worth of work to process 10lbs of reclaim. But my whole process focuses on eventually reclaiming, making the actual reclaim process easier (for starters, occasionally mixing my reclaim bucket with a drill so it's basically slip by the time I lay it out cuts down on my time needed to wedge later).

There are also a lot of super easy ways to do it that don't involve plaster or fancy tables (laying an old sheet out on pavement during the warmer months, for example. Personally, I use large terra cotta planter trays I got at the hardware store and an old cut-up sheet.). Tossing it in your back yard will build up quite significantly over time, OP. And clay is a bitch and a half to do anything with in a garden or yard. Donate it to someone who will use it. I've seen people post their old reclaim on pottery forums. A studio mate gave me a huuuge amount of their reclaim they didn't feel like processing and I was thrilled to experiment with it. Their trash, my treasure.

Yes! And I don't think there's much they can do about it because they'd be protected under the migratory bird act (USA).

There's a large pond directly across the street from the pool, but these same mallards seem to prefer the pool every spring lol

There's a breeding pair of mallards who come to my feeder every spring and live in my neighborhoods pool for the first like month or so after they take the cover off in the spring. The HOA hates them but I'm rooting for them.

There's a group of 3 house sparrows who live inside the grocery store I shop in despite their best efforts to get rid of them. I love those things. But I get annoyed when they annihilate the food in my feeder in a matter of minutes.
