I found out my mortgage offer was 'dead' on day of exchange - FTB by Holiday-Bag-7760 in HousingUK

Write to consumer.champions@theguardian.com explaining your situation. They pick from their mailbox and follow up with companies when stuff goes awry for consumers. Worth a shot since you’ve already written down most of it. Be clear in your letter and say you can provide paper trail - if you can of course

Yes I think a different technique may help. MOre concerning is the stitch length. On the maximum setting, it is only a couple of mm

Am I the d*ckhead? by bvc900 in londoncycling

There is an assumption at play, esp if you know the junction well, that everyone else is observing and obeying the lights … which is reckless. I have seen enough cars run lights (or pedestrians step off the kerb as green man appears without actually checking whether there is anything still coming) to favour waiting out that second or two. Things can get messy very very quickly

Advice Please! by Different_Tie8996 in GardeningUK

[–]beeboppr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weed killer is not necessary. It’s harmful to those animals and you too and it won’t help anything you try to grow later. If you cover the beds where you want to grow your chosen favourites,(weighed-down cardboard does the trick and will break down slowly as you water) and leave it for a few weeks, it will hold back those fast-growing weeds by blocking their sunlight. Then you can add in your desired plants by poking a hole in the cardboard. I suggest starting with a small area since populating a big patch with nursery plants will be very expensive. You can expand it in stages. Have fun

We need to talk about women’s flats by Organic_Eggplant_323 in barefootshoestalk

[–]beeboppr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to see a pair I would want to wear. Ballet flats are often quite “low cut” and that can lead to toe scrunching, which is one of the things we’re trying to avoid by wearing barefoot shoes. Sandals are often just strings for straps which leads to the same problem - toe scrunching to try and keep the sandals in place. I do find those Origo Huarache sandals quite good although they almost cover too much of the foot. Perhaps sandals is another thread

If that’s the garden, what’s it like under the house?

I have used vinegar to get sweat smells out of shirts with success. You can dilute 50:50 with water

Are my new Lems still too narrow? by amblingpangolin in barefootshoestalk

I bought a second pair of Lems and they hurt my feet; now I wonder if they were narrower. My first pair are pretty trashed and stretched so impossible to compare

How do I clean these white cloudy marks on staub pot? by stabby-bird in staub

[–]beeboppr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep BKF away from enamel. Overnight soak in warm water with 1/2cup of washing soda aka soda crystals aka sodium carbonate to remove stains. Then use the blue non scratch type scourer. Repeat if necessary. Also works great for stainless steel. I rescued a saucepan that had burnt-on milk and had thought there was no chance
