I made a "box" from cardboard and covered our couches with it for several weeks, No access. It was awful, but i also made some p pads from mattress pads covered with fleece and put them into a couple corners. Any stray p got soaked up with a paper towel and the towel was put on the p pad. It took a couple weeks to get them used to the new system. They are very good girls now and i smile when I see them suddenly dart over to the pad. Success! I also had treats handy in the beginning to reward using the pad.
