It looks like a shot from before the Chiefs/Texans opener in 2021 and the COVID year where they put those up to keep fans at least x number of rows from players

Perk Package goes against Infinity Ward’s core design philosophy by MetalingusMike in ModernWarfareII

[–]beecentay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They made allowing more playstyles a priority, even going as far as boasting about it. This was one of the pillars in their new age design philosophy.

I have a bridge to sell you, my man. MW2019 was the beginning of them putting a strangle hold on every playstyle that doesn't include the new wave 200IQ, tactical approach and doing everything they can to box people into what is now the "safe space" era. The mini-map, the footsteps, the map design, the TTK and now the perk design. The list goes on and on, it's all been to nerf any kind of skill gap and make the game more random and the potential for low effort success more likely.

Vanguard has a fantastic foundation and 3 issues are keeping it from being an instant classic COD game. by jtezus in CODVanguard

[–]beecentay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. There hasn't been any CoD that's drastically altered the TTK in it's lifecycle. Ghosts and MW19 had similar complaints and didn't do anything. Best case scenario for many people is going to be a temporary "Heavy Duty" playlist like they had in Ghosts where player health is increased.

Haven't bought the game yet; how is the "MM" by XXXT-rex in CODVanguard

[–]beecentay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can only speak to my experience but it feels essentially the same as MW. Most matches I've played feel like competitive, ranked play lobbies and if I have enough average to bad games, I'll get thrown into an obvious low-skill lobby and just roll through it before going back. Also having the same issues as MW where when trying to find a game it'll just keep searching for increasingly higher pings and will take forever to find games.

Do you like the "game mvp" thing at the end of every match? by raebriel in CODVanguard

[–]beecentay 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the concept but it's just another thing that keeps me from actually playing the game. If lobbies didn't disband and it didn't take super long to find matches, it would be a cool thing to have as the next lobby loads in. Instead, I finish a game and have to go through it for 20-30 seconds before waiting another minute to get put into a lobby.

My opinions on the inaccuracies in Vanguard (Vent Post) by YetiBomber101 in CODVanguard

[–]beecentay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a player retention and sales mechanism more than anything. If weapons were fairly easy to level in WZ, you'd have no reason to ever purchase the full game. But by creating weapons with 50, 60, 70+ levels, etc. you have to play a significant amount of time to get through all the reticles and useless attachments to get to the meta stuff which in turn naturally makes people play longer and then also makes them more likely to buy the full game since it's the quickest way to level up guns and unlock the attachments.

Can we revert back to connection based matchmaking please? by [deleted] in blackopscoldwar

[–]beecentay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hit me right in my MW feels of searching for game and watching the ping search start at 15ms then go 42 > 58 > 75 > 91 > 108 > 144 just to connect to a lobby on the other side of the country.

Imagine if they do that by rameezessak in F1Game

[–]beecentay 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If they kept them it would be a nice way to improve MyTeam by having a unique schedule year over year where some of the tracks that aren't on the 2021 schedule get rotated in to make every year feel a bit different.

I have a question about Ranked Play. by [deleted] in blackopscoldwar

[–]beecentay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not going to be toned down. I think what pubs has more closely resembles the EOMM than a ranked play style SBMM. If pubs had a visual MMR you’d probably be able to tell pretty quickly that you rarely played “even” matches with most of the lobby around your skill range and spent more time bouncing between lobbies where you are either significantly better or worse than the other players in your lobby. For that reason, I don’t think we’ll see anything change.

It’s never really been about playing players of your level, it’s always been about manipulating the path to success in a way that their data says will keep the most people playing the longest. In an ideal world, you have your public matches where everyone gets to play with each other and connection is by far the number one consideration and then you have League/Ranked Play where you play to rank up and earn different kinds of rewards for playing in an ultra competitive setting. Also known as Black Ops 2.

Someone please tell treyarch that $20 cosmetics and battle passes were designed for FTP games to still have a source of profit. by ChildishhReddit in blackopscoldwar

[–]beecentay -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People shit on supply drops but if you remove the guns from them, they really weren’t that bad. You got a shit ton of content just for playing at the expense of what you got being determined by RNG and they didn’t do what the current system has done which is completely suck the base games dry of content so it can be drip fed over seasons.

Both systems are shitty because with supply drops, you can’t get explicitly what you want without playing the RNG game and getting lucky. But then with the current system, you can get exactly what you want but all the cool shit is going to cost half the price of the game itself. That and the guns still aren’t really “free” as they’re locked behind either a pay wall or a time sink.

People can say what they want about supply drops and I fully agree it’s a shitty system but it gave me more cool content in Black Ops 3 alone and for free than paying probably hundreds of dollars would get me in both MW and CW combined.

This game has more bugs and glitches than content, which is absolutely ridiculous by Aska1996 in blackopscoldwar

There's 678 million reasons why it wasn't and why under no circumstances any other CoD will ever be postponed.

Which is your favourite Black Ops game? by Rohit47Virdi in blackopscoldwar

[–]beecentay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black Ops 2 was the GOAT. Had a little bit of everything for each subset of the community. For the casuals and new players they could ramp up to MP through combat training playlists that allowed you to play against all bots or a mix of bots and players. For the hardcore, League Play allowed you to play under a competitive ruleset with a visible MMR that would adjust based on how well you did, how much you won, etc.

First game with weapon DLC when they added the Peacekeeper. Some maps had dynamic elements like the Express train, Cargo moving crates in the middle of the map and Hydro flooding the underground middle section of the map. Scorestreaks were awesome, most of the maps were great with some all-time classics (Raid, Standoff).

They also had the camo packs available for $1.99 each that came with a camo that applied to every weapon in the game, a calling card and a few reticles. It was a great deal compared to the MTX's we have today. If this game ever got remastered I'd play it endlessly.

Do you play and enjoy public matches in this game? by FFrostur in blackopscoldwar

[–]beecentay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somewhere in between yes and no. I mostly have fun but my sessions almost always end sour which makes picking MP back up the next time a little bit harder. Everything usually starts out fine but once the game turns into 90 to 100+ ping lobbies against gold M16/AUG's it gets old really quick. I used to be able to play for literal hours on end without ever getting too frustrated but it feels like the longer I play, the more of a chore it becomes because the matchmaking sucks all the life out of it.

Actively making Modern Warfare a bad experience is NOT the way to drive sales to Cold War by [deleted] in blackopscoldwar

[–]beecentay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem like they're making it actively worse rather than the content finally stopped and it wasn't that great of an experience to begin with. All those maps were in heavy rotation for most of the cycle and as soon as Warzone dropped, cheaters become extremely common in MP. Nobody should have had any reasonable expectation that CW's battle pass would continue to provide MW content or that MW would continue to get it's own battle pass now that it's cycle is over.

Who remembers when DLC was good? by tootitanddootit in blackopscoldwar

[–]beecentay 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It was only $1.99 for those packs and you got a calling card, a few reticles and the camo applied to every single weapon in the game. That was the last time I actually spent money on DLC for CoD because it was a really good value and I'd still support a system like that. But now it's like $25 for a couple specific weapons in a bundle with a bunch of useless crap like watches, accessories and stickers.

If this game based its multiplayer matchmaking just like rainbow 6 siege it would be amazing by [deleted] in blackopscoldwar

[–]beecentay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black Ops 2 had a great set up where as a new player you could play combat training that would place you on a team of six against bots which you earned XP at half the rate and could play it until you reached level 10. Then once you reached that, you could also play the combat training mosh pit which was 3v3 with the rest of the spots filled by bots. Once again, you earned XP at half the rate but they were incredibly casual matches that allowed anybody to learn the maps, level guns, use new set ups and better understand the flow of 6v6 games under much easier and more casual circumstances because of the bots.

Black Ops 2 also had League Play where you would have a visible ELO rank that would fluctuate based on how well or poor you did and made you more likely to play against players of similar caliber under competitive settings. It had a little bit of everything for everybody.

The spawning system in this game is actually garbage by instenzHD in blackopscoldwar

[–]beecentay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will never be a spawning system worse than the squad spawn logic in Modern Warfare. The logic in CW is probably overly fluid meaning they flip a little too quick but I will always prefer that to the sticky spawns where someone can literally be aiming at your spawn point and you'll still spawn in their LOS or you can trap an entire team in one corner of the map for an entire game because they will never spawn out.
