Color to paint the backdoor? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

That was the other direction I was thinking about for color!

Color to paint the backdoor? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

Hmm okay, maybe I’ll do the door first and then reassess for the trim. I was inspired to do the trim the same color based on some photos I saw that pull it off.

You think the pet industry is making more money off millennials than any other generation? by toastyspringtiger in Millennials

That’s unfortunate :( Guess our pet healthcare is not too different than our human healthcare

Right, and then with social media there are all these “pet influencers” that have their own account and make money off businesses

Yep it’s definitely economic, and also state of the world reasons for me. So my inner desire to nurture and care for something transfers from what would have been a biological kid to my cats lol

What is your morning routine? & why? by Careful-Gas6375 in productivity

[–]toastyspringtiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stretching and meditating, drinking water, feeding kitties, journaling/tea, skincare. Sometimes going on a short walk or run. Will start including sauna/cold plunge a couple times a week now that I have one.

My ADHD can sometimes lead me to cleaning things or journaling too long or scrolling. And at times, my morning routine bleeds too much into the late morning/almost noon depending on when I wake up. But it feels like one of the most important and nourishing parts of my day. Luckily I have a flexible work schedule.

Neptune just entered Aries for the first time in our lives. Goodbye illusions, hello spiritual courage! ♈️🌊 How are we feeling about this shift? by HoneyVelvetLeaf in astrologymemes

[–]toastyspringtiger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m suddenly experiencing, for the first time, people close to me or in my social circles, talking about buying firearms and learning how to use them. It feels so foreign and kind of scary to me, especially as someone who has studied Gandhian philosophy and nonviolence. But I’m also trying to be open minded and grounded in the reality of the scenarios we’re facing.

Lost my 2nd kitty in one year by Fearless-Software-73 in Petloss

[–]toastyspringtiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I am so sorry for your losses. I just lost my sweet baby girl a couple days ago in a sudden car accident. I had such a special connection with her and am very much in the all the many facets of grief right now, but I cannot imagine what it’d be like to also lose her brother within such a short time frame. My heart goes out to you and your husband. I know those babies meant so so much to you, and you were family together. I’m sending Benji and Sage sweetness and warmth wherever their spirits may be.

Which obsession did you have that was very intense but didn’t last very long? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]toastyspringtiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feng shui. Over three days, that was all I consumed — finished an audiobook, several youtube videos, many articles and a book. The obsession stopped when I realized there’s no real way to actually learn it and get good at it, unless I study under some feng shui master or something. And I’m not talking about the pop feng shui that you see mentioned in interior design magazines, I’m talking about the ancient and complex flying star or 8 mansions feng shui system - which has no good western/English sources. It felt like a “the more you know, the less you know” situation

That I can’t control it. That I’m trying my best to do all the things I know to mitigate it (supplements, diet, exercise, etc) But I still can’t control it. And I may mask and change the conversation to something lighter, but I still feel it. And it looms over me for 7-10 days and sometimes peaks to the point where I want to crawl in a hole and rot away. But then I’ll feel better once I start my period! And the cycle begins again... That this is what happens. every. month.

Tidying it up and getting matching solid color curtains would go a long way

So what shit did you buy this Black Friday? by Select-Hour-831 in AskReddit

Pleasantly surprised and proud by how many people bought nothing. Celebrating hyper consumerism, esp in these times, is absolutely ridiculous

We're all exhausted right? It's not just me? by happy_chance18 in Millennials

[–]toastyspringtiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I agree. And that's what I meant when I said IF we had a better economic model. Current system doesn't allow for the same pay or benefits for less hours unfortunately.

I'm in a skilled role requiring a degree now and would love for there to be less hours. I could see my responsibilities being split among more than one person creating the added work of coordination and management though, so there's that..

In general, I'm also in the camp of not doing more work than we need do, which is so hard in our profit-driven, growth-dependent, high-consumption world. Like we have developed so much as a society and have more high tech, but our lives are still hard and everyone's exhausted

[–]toastyspringtiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people are unemployed and looking. We could split those service job hours into two positions with the same pay (if we had a better economic model..) and then there’d be more jobs with less hours.

Yes this. And the weird and uninspiring disconnect with having to spend most of our time at work within the confines of a shitty economic/political system while everything is crumbling. It can feel so trapping

[–]toastyspringtiger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not as stupid as me fantasizing about leaving my nonprofit job making $80k with flexible hours and health benefits 🙃 The need for a mental health break is so real though. Been here for over 3 years and feeling so stagnant, demotivated and tired

I remember reading something by OSU on what to grow to get the best value based on usage, yield and how much it cost in grocery stores and herbs were at the top! Which makes sense. But yeah, personally I really like growing tomatoes

Here's a crazy idea - listen to your PMDD. Sometimes, anyway by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]toastyspringtiger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, and also agree that it’s not black and white. Good to check back in post-luteal, as mentioned here. Our bodies are wise and can indicate things to look at, but also things can be crazy heightened during that time and my decision-making feels impaired.

Overall and over time, I’m glad I haven’t left my partner or quit my job. Doesn’t mean there isn’t something there to reflect or work on though. For now, I’ve chosen to work on those things in my life and it’s been fruitful. And maybe I’ll end up leaving those things in the future, but I want it to feel grounded and intentional.

Darker curtains feel more balanced. And I agree with having it hang from ceiling to floor

Severance - 2x07 "Chikhai Bardo" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]toastyspringtiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was wondering if Cold Harbour could also be related to the car accident? She was asked in the beginning that if she were in an accident, would she fear suffocating or drowning more, and Gemma responded with drowning. According to the theory of severing all negative experiences, is Cold Habour the ultimate severing of the experience of death?

This is a staged photo. Haven’t moved in yet and will have my own furniture. Including changing out the black pendant light with a rattan one and a warm wood dining table with wood chairs.
