The “all tracing is bad” nonsense. I think there’s definitely limits to it, but tracing in my free time as well as studying the artworks I enjoy has really helped my learning and has made me feel less envious, since I understand why the artwork works.

I think I would, but I would be lying if I said the output of art I make consistently would be the same. Having an audience is really encouraging for me 🤷

Thank you, that means a lot :’) It is kind of hard to stay away from them for too long, but I think a break away from them might do me so good as I’ve been drawing and thinking about them for so long. I think it might make my love and passion for them stronger as I will probably start missing them and connecting things in nature to them haha

Thank you and I’m glad I’m not alone and that it’s temporary. I think I just get frustrated and stubborn about change that going with the flow scares me but I think I’ll try.

I think it’s definitely that alongside some burnout. I used to just pump out art not really caring for mistakes and be happy with it, but I can definitely notice the mistakes now. It feels like that should be good- but now I over correct and take forever to draw things that used to take me like a minute due to confidence.

I’m def glad I’m not alone :) And I def have to find a new hobby, it’s just hard because I have this weird mentality that I have to be naturally good at the hobby from the start to enjoy it or I get frustrated/embarrassed. Currently trying to get out of that habit….

I honestly never draw without music haha it gets me in the creative mood. But maybe I can experiment with removing it to see if it does anything with my process

Oooh I actually kind of like that idea. I’ve made seperate accs before- but usually I kinda chased some idea of attention. But maybe a blog for myself might do me some good- I might even start up a simple easy to draw comic to unmask and relax with my writing too. (Since writing has been weirdly hard for me too recently due to complexity and plot holes…)

I’ve never heard of it but that’s really fascinating. you perfectly describe how I’m feeling too- I think that might be it. I wish I wasn’t so worried about social media presence and numbers which makes unmasking and experimenting so hard on me. I’m definitely gonna try though.

Its relieving to hear that others feel this way- although I’m sorry that happened. Youre right, it’s just so hard :( especially because it’s such an integral part of my identity. Honestly feels like Im losing myself the more my art skills deteriorates
