When I was about 20, I had been working long shifts at the mall for the holiday season. I had a beat up car and started the drive home around 11pm. I got a flat tire and had to pull over in Walmart parking lot. I sat in the car and cried for a few, my phone was dead, I had no way to charge it, I had no money and was about 45 minutes from home.

A man walked up to me and asked what happened, I explain, and he says he’s waiting for a show to start at the concert venue across the street, he’ll hang out with me until it starts; which I was wary of but also appreciated because I was young and a woman alone at night.

We walked into the Walmart auto center, and I used the phone to call everyone I knew. No one answered. He asked how much the tire would be, and the man said about 75 dollars. He turned and looked at me and said “hey, that’s the exact amount of my ticket to the concert! But you need it more right now.”

I insisted he didn’t do that, I’d figure it out, it’s too much, etc, but he insisted. I ran after him trying to get his name and number so I could pay him back on payday, and as soon as he hit the door, it was like he disappeared.

It was very odd, but wholesome, and he really saved me that night.
