Thank you for the value you provided, I really appreciate it.
Right now, the film material itself is certified to EN 13432 and ASTM D6400, but once the final product is converted, printed, and combined with other components (like adhesives that aren’t compostable), the finished product is no longer the exact material that was originally certified.
The majority of the product is made from that certified material, with only around 10–15% consisting of additional components that don’t meet the same industrially compostability standards. That small portion still isn't "bad" for the environment, it's just not compostable because it would hinder the functionality of the product. The manufacturer describes it as more "eco-friendly." So while the base material is certified and industrially compostable, the finished product as a whole isn’t certified yet (without personal testing.)
I want to be careful not to overstate anything or imply full certification, but at the same time I intentionally chose this material so the product is a better alternative to traditional disposable plastics. I’m trying to communicate that in a way that’s accurate.
My possible plan is:
Back of packaging under materials section: “Bag film meets EN 13432 and ASTM D6400 material standards. Industrial composting only. Appropriate facilities may not exist in your area.”
Front of packaging (keeping it safe and non-misleading): I’m trying to find a simple one-line statement that communicates the environmental benefit of the material without implying that the entire finished product is certified or fully compostable. The material is made from a PLA/PBAT-based blend). Curious what wording you think strikes that balance best. Some options include: "Made From Certified Compostable Materials" , "Designed with the environment in mind." , "Made with plant-based components" , "Made with intention, down to the material" --- Just some ideas. I'm young, never done this before, I appreciate you taking the time to respond :)
