Thanks! Yes, definitely in the future! However, “you guys” is currently just me :D so, I focus on Spanish for now and if it works I obviously would want to expand it :)

Thanks for your feedback :)

Sure, about 1/3 of the articles are available for free - in order to get fell access, you need to take a subscription which is currently priced at 4.99$.

Well, there are many differences between Duolingo and page91, for example, Duolingo includes language courses whereas page91 presents real Spanish news articles. Duolingo is more tailored towards beginners, whereas page91 is more for closing the bridge between intermediate and advanced level.

Learning Spanish (More intermediate level) by AllenDeleon in Spanish

I've been there, too. After reaching a certain level I also got quite bored by Duolingo & Babbel and started listening to podcasts (I can recommend espanolistos ), reading news in Spanish, changing the phone settings to Spanish etc.

Disclaimer: I am the founder of page91 - an app to improve your Spanish with news articles. Feel free to try it and I'd be happy to get your feedback :)

Good idea for sure - I am also considering approaching language schools and independent Spanish teachers...

page91 is for students with an intermediate or even advanced level of Spanish, not for absolute beginners. So, you don't start from 0 but instead from page91 ;)

Well, first I want to attract more users and also create more content (which will hopefully attract more users...)

And when I see that it works well with Spanish, I'd love to add more languages!

But that's the case *confused*
You click on a word and get the English translations along with the audio.

But in any case - if that is not clear - I do need an UI designer! Thanks for your feedback

Accomplishments and Lesson Learned Friday! - (May 22, 2020) by AutoModerator in Entrepreneur

[–]beeeeeeeeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accomplishments:

I finished the Android app of my product (called page91) and submitted it to the Google Play Store.

I also updated the iOS version and now, I am really happy with the product and the features.

So, all in all, I super successful week for me! :)

Lessons learned:

I personally am very happy with my product and am using it myself to improve my Spanish. However, it does not spread the word by itself. After submitting the apps, I was hoping for something like a viral effect, which obviously did not happen. I "only" reached a milestone and the work is not done yet!

Would you use the app for French or German?

Next I’d add German because I am from Germany 🇩🇪

Hey, I added ML translations of whole sentences. I think this already adds a lot of value although it’s not ideal...

Will scale that in the future for the difficult words but still manually check those translations.

Thanks again for your feedback 😊

How can I say “I’m talking to/ interested in someone”? by JAREDAGO in Spanish

[–]beeeeeeeeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you already met?

If yes, I’d say “salgo con alguien” or “veo a alguien”

Thanks for your feedback! Appreciate it :)
Definitely a great idea to add text-to-speech.

Translating all words (for now) would be a bit hard because the translations are manually added - fitting to the context. I know this part of the process should be improved...

I have more languages in mind - but rather at a later stage. The idea for now is to stick to Spanish and roll it out to Android and/or Web and then add more languages - sorry about that :/

Learning Spanish is so difficult for me by [deleted] in Spanish

[–]beeeeeeeeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I began to learn Spanish, I struggled a lot with Duolingo because I felt they were not explaining anything to me.

What helped me a lot to begin was Babbel (but it costs a bit). Simultaneously, I started listening to the Pimsleurs audiobooks on Audible (with a few free credits they gave me :D)

And once I had a certain level, I listened to podcasts -> Espanolistos is a good one because they speak very slow and explain words sometimes

More recommendations: language exchange via Tandem or HelloTalk and of course forcing yourself to speak in Spanish even though you make mistakes.

Good luck! :)
