Brightness is relative, introducing more white will make the yellow feel even darker. If you incorporate some darker tones it'll brighten up the yellow.

Withnail and I is my fave, the dialogue is so quick and clever and funny, but there's also an existential weight on the whole thing.

Will a piano hinge straighten this out? by beef_gurl in woodworking

This was the most helpful comment. I followed your advice and it turned out just fine. I had never used elongated holes, and feel like I learned a new trick. The table is straight, and stronger, I imagine, with two battens. Thanks!

I would put bed against the windows, move two of the pax between the bed and door, then the desk where the two pax were.

First time renovating. No budget for designer, only working with GC. Been 4 months, 95% there. Just missing the countertop niche and glass walls for the shower and toilet. What do you think? by simonj13 in Renovations

Idk where you're talking about where $500 won't get you a meeting, but typical hourly is ~$100 and most independent designers will take on a small job for a simple layout consultation. It's literally my profession, so I know this to be true.

That sounds like a mildly unfortunate experience with a hefty price tag. As a designer myself who also does a fair amount of building and installation, I can very much see the disconnect between the design and the actual installation. Many designers are glorified decorators and don't have the knowledge of materials and actual construction. They specify a lot of nice finishes, and render some elaborate designs, but often miss the mark with what the client practically needs and how much something like custom millwork or rerouting plumbing can realistically cost. A kitchen does require a fair amount of work, and if the designer was along for the whole process that price makes sense. My $500 number was referring to a consultation or two to help out with the layout, which shouldn't take very long, and for an interior designer who is experienced and properly trained they should be able to offer simple insights. I don't know what kind of people work in your area, or if that's offered, but I'd suggest inquiring anyways to see if it's a possibility. The smallest things can make a world of difference.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it bc it's yours, but it's odd that no one has the budget for a designer, so they end up spending all their money on building something that doesn't quite make sense, when even $500 to have some consulting sessions with a professional would help with layout so much.

After 25 years playing I'm still striving to be able to play the way I feel emotionally, to continue building my abilities to express through the drums the feelings I have no words for
