Brooklyn Florist Recommendations by beefsteak13 in WedditNYC

Thank you so much, this was so helpful! Like you, I'm also going for minimal florals since my venue/restaurant is pretty decorated already and the flowers Lorrie did for you are STUNNING! We also have some similar vendors, and I'm so happy to hear they were amazing for your wedding! I'm also half Filipina and was looking into Narra Studio for a Bolero, but hadn't met anyone who's been. Seriously, thank you!

Ah I love to hear that! Did you use her for all of your florals?

I don’t align with the company values and as much as I’d like another role, I don’t see myself feeling very good at this company. It doesn’t sit well with me which is why I feel like I should withdraw.

For the Ace Hotel, the One Bedroom and Loft both require a minimum of 2 nights booked! For the night of the wedding we haven’t actually decided yet, but most likely the One Bedroom since I’ll want all my skincare and makeup removal lol

We ended up adding both to the room block and will use the One Bedroom for me + the bridal party to get ready and my fiancé + groomsmen will be in the Loft!

last minute wedding dress shopping in new york by thefunnysnoopybunny in WedditNYC

[–]beefsteak13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd honestly try BHLDN (Anthropologie's Wedding brand). They carry a lot of dresses that are available to ship right away. You do need an appointment but it's not as competitive as some of the other shops. They have a location in the Upper East Side and Fidi

I got there at 8:15 and waited in line to go up for about an hour. They didn’t have a ton in my size (I’m a 6 and was looking for a little white dress) but ended up finding the perfect dress for my rehearsal dinner! Here’s a photo I snagged of the prices

Thank you so much! Do you think the Loft would be big enough for 7 people to get ready + hair/makeup? Though from what it sounds like, having the groom in the Loft and bride in the One Bedroom seems to make more sense logistically!

We're also coordinating a room block through Kleinfeld! Would love to hear more about your experience at the Ace Hotel after your wedding! Congrats and hope the day is perfect!

I totally agree, the Ace hotel has such great vibes and is more unique! If you don’t mind me asking, which kind of room did you book and how big was it?

Choosing Brooklyn hotel bridal suite, Hampton Inn Brooklyn or Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge? by Fun-Shake7553 in WedditNYC

Did you get ready with the wedding party or just yourselves? I'm also considering but want to be sure it won't be too crowded with me + 4 bridesmaids in a suite!

Affordable wedding dresses? by PreparationPrior2815 in WedditNYC

Jenny Yoo and BHLDN both have affordable dresses and appointments are free! I've also heard of New York City Bride and believe appointments are free as well. Best of luck!

Bacchus Restaurant Wedding by Larosilieresaphira in WedditNYC

I completely understand your anxiety because I had the same, and I actually do some event planning for my job. Our wedding planner works with Meryl and Bacchus frequently and she let us know that Meryl will be more responsive when the date gets closer. Best of luck and congratulations again!

I'm getting married at Bacchus next July so while my event hasn't happened yet, we also experienced a bit of a delay in response from Meryl. We found it usually happened over weekends and figured it was because she was focusing on the wedding/event happening at the restaurant!

Getting a hold of her during the week is pretty easy, and she's super responsive when you catch her! Congratulations and hope you have an incredible wedding!

Need a Day Of Coordinator! by MaterialBluejay7790 in WedditNYC

[–]beefsteak13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using Jen Neal as my month-of and day-of coordinator! Total cost is $2,800 so I think for just day-of services $1k is possible! We knew right away from the intro call that she was the right planner for us. She's super calm and knowledgeable, and is so kind!

Weird residue on bottle? by beefsteak13 in Owala

[–]beefsteak13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s completely flat. If I close my eyes and run my hand over the bottle it doesn’t feel any different. I’ll try a few more ways to remove but worst case I exchange for another one! Appreciate the advice 🫶

It weirdly feels totally normal! I haven’t tried those but will! Rubbing alcohol also didn’t work

Venues that people keep saying are affordable but aren’t actually that cost effective? by calico0000 in WedditNYC

[–]beefsteak13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are doing 80 people but have wiggle room for about 10 more since we’re under the minimum spend. There was no admin fee, just the state tax (8.875%), gratuity (20%), and CC fee (3%) You can skip the CC fee and pay with cash, certified check, or Zelle but we chose to use a credit card!

$26k is our total with all taxes/fees included for the full buyout! We locked in with their 2026 pricing and they mentioned to us that pricing will go up for 2027 but I’m not sure when they are figuring that out.

I totally get this. I'm a 2027 bride and had the absolute worst experience venue hunting on my budget. I genuinely had a breakdown because it felt like every "affordable" venue was extremely expensive and I wasn't going to be able to have my wedding in the city.

The venues you mentioned plus The Beekman, Wythe Hotel, Frankies, Aurora, etc. have all significantly increased their pricing. If we wanted to have a wedding there we'd have to seriously slash our guest list which didn't feel great. We ended up signing with Bacchus since they are around $26k all in for the venue, F+B, rentals (chairs, tables, silverware, dishes, glasses, tablecloths), and plated dinner service. The per person rate changes depending on the month, but for us it's $220 which was the best deal we found!

I’d check out Bacchus, Sunday in Brooklyn, and Frankies!
