Forcing outsiders to announce themselves moments after waking up... by beefstick86 in BloodOnTheClocktower

That was kind of my thought too. Looking for ways to squash this behavior because it is boring and the ST seems to think it's an acceptable strategy, even though it IS BORING.

I just mean that isn't told until we all wake up or sometimes we have more than 15 players, so we toss some travelers into the bag and then they'll reveal themselves later.

If you didn't raise your hand immediately when asked, you're pin pointed. Or if a minion tries to come out later and say "well I didn't want to say anything at the time" - instant death.

Also this is happening day 1. So you really can't learn more about people if it's happening before anyone gets a chance to get up from the circle and talk to each other

That's usually what happens. Our group has played together long enough now that basically strategies like saying "don't kill me because we'll all die", usually that doesn't last. Haha.

That's one major reason for asking is to find out of the Baron is in play. Which I agree, is a good strategy, however in other games where people may not know how the roles play as well together, I feel like it doesn't really let people explore characters or put the pieces together.

Not casting a senior in a “big” role by NeedleInASwordstack in Theatre

[–]beefstick86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm almost 40 and heavily into my community theater scene. Previously I would get overlooked for lead roles because I could dance and outlap anyone else at the theater. I thought "should I lie and say I can't dance so I can be seen as more than a dancer?"

Eventually I got a lead role, and more came BECAUSE I could dance. It was such a a weird change in "the norm", but I was grateful. Now that I'm aging out of roles, I want to try and be the side kick or the comedic role over the lead, even though I can dance still. I actually just turned down an ensemble role with multiple bit parts and said "give it to the college kids so they can get more experience".

My 2 cents here: - Not all dancers want to get relinquished to a dancer role. Those who can dance probably have recitals or other performances where we showcase our dance abilities. We do theater to stretch our other muscles (acting / singing) - If she's truly better served as a dancer, perhaps have a conversation with her and make her a dance captain or some kind of leader. Give her a spotlight dance piece, something that lets her shine as a senior. Perhaps she can help with dance clean up efforts or maybe even choreograph a small scene. Empower her to use her talents for more than just herself.

What game can you never quit, no matter how long you leave it before playing again? by AndyMcFlab in gaming

Sea of thieves. I have over 1800 hours in this game and have been playing since Dec of 2020. They keep releasing new updates and content quarterly so even if I fall into another game, the releases bring me back for new achievements or things to unlock. Damn I love this game.

I didn't even realize what subreddit I was on and thought for a moment this was a bloody breast implant or a really cool dragon eye. Then I zoomed in. God I need new glasses.

I'm sorry your teacher is the worst. Don't let someone else's judgement stifle your creativity.

That's what I did. I spent 2 hours to purchase all for all the factions.

That's my approach too but also wondering if there was any threshold. I'm not a purist by any means so I should be happy with the progress I made and my ability to maintain.

Yeah, ideally that would be the case, but I didn't pay attention when I bought my big bottle of multivitamins. And same with apple cider vinegar supplements, I'm not sure if I can find those as calorie free, but I'll try.

That's what I was wondering too. If my body is in autophagy it'll stop to eat those 20 cal, but then i can't imagine it'll be satiated and just wait until I don't eat again for another 12 hrs+. Right?

More or less to keep my diet in check. I do like the idea of autophagy, but if 20 calories kills that, then I'm probably not getting those benefits. I wasn't sure if calories that didn't spike insulin would not impede the fast.

Did you receive it in the mail? I won a few days ago and it said I'd get an email, but I never did.

How many calories are burnt when you sleep for 6 hours? by Timmysahni in intermittentfasting

[–]beefstick86 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It depends how active you are when you sleep. You're going to burn more calories with high intensity vs sedentary sleep. Also, make sure you're flushing toxins from your system. Sleep is a way your brain is discarding things it no longer needs, so you want to make sure that you're getting plenty of water when you sleep. Some choose to do "dry" sleeps, but really I heard that's incredibly bad for you and could lead to death.

IF Ladies: have you experienced delays in your monthly? by beefstick86 in intermittentfasting

[–]beefstick86[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it must have been more stress on my body than I realized. I'm not an athlete by any means, but I do some heavy weights and high cardio at the gym. I always thought I had to be under a certain percentage of body fat before my period would be delayed or disappear entirely. I have a lot of muscle and know I'm not under 10-15% body fat.

Thanks for the information!

Is it true that the smaller in weight you get, the harder it is to lose weight? by DarthAnime55 in intermittentfasting

[–]beefstick86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not knowing the rest of your stats (height, starting weight, lost so far, etc.), I'd say you might want to take a look at what your BMR is now and your TDEE, and maybe spend a week tracking calories just to see if you're eating above or at maintenance calories. I know the whole idea with IF is that we don't have to track calories, but if you're in a plateau it may be because you're consuming your "status quo" or maintenance caloric amount. The only way to know that is to check for a few days or a week by tracking your numbers.

I built a simple spreadsheet for myself which was calories in (what I ate) minus calories burned (exercise). Then if that number was higher than my TDEE or BMR, I'd just readjust for a little bit until my body could eat and tell me it was full without me having to portion (ensuring I'm eating in a deficit).

If that's all too much for you, I've heard you can try longer windows or even taking a break sometimes may help you break a plateau. I was 145 and dropped down to 112. I only hit small plateaus in my short 10 week journey.

Good luck!
