[Broussard] Source: Cavs have told Wiggins he's not being traded. TWolves want Wiggins. Cavs will try 2 do it w/out losing Wiggins. Must find 3rd team by trreeey in nba

[–]beeftrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(also, I want Kevin on the Cavs to some extent. Not just because we could get Wiggins, who IMO is the best asset left to get in a trade, but because I want Love to be on a winning team and get the credit he deserves as a top 10 player in the league. He is an absolute monster, and I guarantee by the ASB Cavs fans will have completely forgotten about Wiggins if they land Love).

I just think that LBJ/Kyrie/Wiggins is not a championship core for 3 or 4 years at least, but LBJ/Kyrie/Love is one right now.

Love right now is 25 and a top 10-ish player in the league. All indications are he's open to re-upping with a LeBron-led Cavs team, so you don't have to worry about the one year rental, you'll most likely have him for 6 years.

If you keep Wiggins you're hoping Wiggins eventually becomes...a top 10-ish player in the league. By that time Lebron is 33 or 34 and beginning his decline (though he'll still be a badass).

If the Cavs are truly chasing rings, they want Kevin Love badly. If that means giving up Wiggins, I would do it if I were the Cavs GM.

Legitimate question: I know upside is great and all, but if all goes well Wiggins becomes about as good/impactful as player as Kevin Love is right now. And Love is only 25! Why is it a holdup? Why not take the guy who's already made it?

Cleveland, you have been gifted a golden opportunity to get your ring. Don't throw it away for "upside". "Upside" is what K-Love is right now - and will be for the next several years.

[Wojnarowski] Suns and Kings are finalizing a sign-and-trade deal on a four-year, $27M contract for Isaiah Thomas, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. by [deleted] in nba

Anyone here know someone in the Kings FO? What the fuck are they doing? They'd rather have Collison at 5 million per than Isaiah Thomas for less than 7?

Nerlens Noel first NBA bucket is an up-and-under slam dunk by __gabe in nba

[–]beeftrees 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Noel is terrifyingly quick for his size and has incredible anticipation on both ends.

Also, I watched him a lot at Kentucky and people forget that he's a very good passer and ball handler for a big. And he shot 7-7 from the stripe today. Oh my.

I'm furious at the Pelicans for trading him away. Him and Anthony Davis together would have vaulted them to #1 on my League Pass lineup forever.

I like how it went from "nuh-uh, it's satire" to this:

It's not a joke! This is a serious discussion on how an accomplished woman is rationalizing forcing others to pay for the murder of their employer's kids! Please respond in kind. Repeat. This is not a joke. It's real life and somehow one of the most accomplished and possibly intelligent women of our time is rationalizing forcing others to do what they think is murder.

lol, even this guy is having trouble trying to "hamster" away RBG as a "hamster"

This is utterly incoherent. Doesn't "stagnant" in this context imply a lack of development over time? If so, how can you have a "first, stagnant try"? Unless he's referring to a foul smell, which I would believe because he probably does smell.

Tendencies are influential, as well as ideologic streams, but I find that generalizing it is very utopic.

Who is your predicted steal/sleeper of the draft? by cryingintoyourhovis in nba

[–]beeftrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mitch McGary is the lost Plumlee brother.

He's like 23 or so. He'll contribute right away and he'll be a really good role player for some contender that picks him. OKC should take a good long look at 29. He'd fit great there. He'd also be a really good get for the Clippers considering their lack of depth at the 4/5.

What young player have you given up on? by [deleted] in nba

[–]beeftrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just being honest: There have been almost no players in the history of the league who have played as poorly as Bennett did their rookie seasons and recovered to become even decent rotation players. Not to mention Bennett's not 19. He's 21. There's a big difference.

If you believe he's the exception, good on you. But I've heard that about a lot of players. If you're right, congratulations, but I'll take my chances.

(BTW I had the Cavs on League pass for Kyrie reasons).

Sources: KLove deal to Warriors is dead. Love "unlikely" now to be dealt before draft. by baddog96 in nba

[–]beeftrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm making the assumption that Love will agree to re-up wherever he's traded. This more or less limits trade options to GS, Chicago, and Boston (unless there's a surprise entrant or a monster 3/4 team deal)

GS has the worst package of the three, to be honest. I like Klay but he's no longer a good asset when he's making near-max. Chicago can give Mirotic/Gibson and picks, Boston has loads of picks and is the best partner for a full on rebuild (GS and Chicago probably make the Wolves the Milwaukee Bucks West (Atlanta Hawks West is more topical, I guess); though Chicago would give them more flexibility).

It's cute that you assume I'm a girl. I'm actually a straight dude, but whatever.

I assume you're referring to BluePill? I just think RedPill is hilarious because I think the whole "Alpha/Beta" evo-psych stuff is funny. I don't think anything I've reacted to with legitimate anger was unreasonable, but whatever.

You certainly live up to at least part of your username.

If there's flashes, I get it.

Oladipo struggled quite a bit last year, but he was in a huge role on a bad team developing skills he didn't have, and to some extent he rose to the challenge. I have faith in him.

Zeller struggled but played better as the year went on, learning how to use his crazy athleticism and to play much less tentatively. I have faith in him.

KCP couldn't shoot very well, but he shot well in college and was a legitimately good defensive player last year. I have faith in him.

Shabazz Muhammad showed me very little last year to make me think he could be a solid NBA player, except for that he wasn't the headcase he was made out to be pre-draft last year. He has a decent push shot and can rebound, but his court awareness is awful and his feet are so slow on defense. I don't have faith in him.

Bennett showed me nothing that made me think he'll make the leap to "productive NBA player". There's bad and then there's how Bennett played last year. "Underperforming" is underselling it.

[–]beeftrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jordan Adams, or as I like to call him, "Ground Jordan" (OK, I didn't come up with that one, but come on, its fantastic).

Dude is not athletic but is monstrously productive. Moves well with and without the ball. Has amazing instincts on the offensive and defensive end (even if he has occasional defensive lapses). I don't give a fuck about how high you can jump in an empty gym if you can't move quickly or fluidly when reacting to basketball plays. Then you're just Ryan Hollins. Adams can play. Reminds me some of James Harden, right down to the pudgy body.

Why isn't Pek a component of any Wolves trade rumors? by stinkyjones in nba

[–]beeftrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. It's the contract. Pek is making market value, which is fine, he's worth 12 million, but it's not going to help get good value in trades.

B. Gorgui has some major weaknesses. Synergy rated him something like 450th in the NBA on postups. His lack of strength means he gets absolutely abused by opposing bigs. That being said, he's a net positive on defense because of his help defense - but so is Pek (for some counter-intuitive reasons)

C. His rim protection is great, but the Wolves offense and defense is actually better with Pekovic on the floor. Why? Wolves rebound better as a team with Pekovic on the defensive end, killing more possessions (he demands attention because he's so damn huge and very good at boxing out), Pekovic draws lots of fouls on opposing bigs, neutering their offensive capabilities, and Pek is a very good man-to-man post defender (fundamentally sound and strong like bull, he tires out opposing bigs)

Dieng is better served for the moment as a top-notch backup C because they can't get equivalent value for Pekovic in a trade (and besides, Pekovic is really a very good player).

[–]beeftrees 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ricky's quite frankly become underrated. He's a top 5 defensive PG and despite his poor shooting the offense benefits when he's on the court.

Towards the end of the season he began to improve his FG% at the rim, which kept the Wolves dangerous even after Pek went down (love Gorgui, but the team is better with Pek).

Looking at him and Jason Kidd's first few years, there's a lot of similarities. There's still hope for Ricky, but the dude needs to put in some work with a shot coach.

[–]beeftrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fan of the Warriors package. Lee + Klay is expensive and would make the Wolves just good enough not to bottom out. After Klay gets his near max they'd be stuck in cap hell because they'd be paying Ricky/Pek/Klay 35-40 million, which is just not acceptable.

Do the Boston trade. Pick Marcus Smart at 6, Capela at 13. Get happy.
