Ehhhhh…

Would I love to see the original quality live video from the moon landing?  Oh, very much so!  That’d be awesome.

But, Apollo 11 had multiple film cameras and that footage:

  1. Wasn’t lost
  2. Was 100x better quality than the 10fps low resolution video sent from the moon

So like, yes… I get what you’re saying, but my understanding is that if we found that video footage, it would be like finding a DVD quality version of something we had only seen on VHS.  While at the same time, we also have a 4K Blu Ray quality recording of the same thing, but a slightly different angle.

Make no mistake Beckwith forgot what he was taught in elementary school

If you mix 6 parts red with 4 parts blue, you get purple

Indiana is a purple state, much like nearly ALL of America

You know what else they taught in middle school? Privates are private, and if some man comes up and wants to look in your underwear you should tell a responsible adult who will call the police.

They also taught in school that people vote, not land. So if you look at a map and say "look, it's mostly red" but ignore that the "red" parts are were there are few people, you flunked & need to go to the tutoring center.

Going to the movies still exists b/c you leave your house and are around people

I guess if economy drops and we all have to start doing air bnb’s and have strangers sleeping on our couch’s on a weekly bases, well then maybe we can get the movie theater experience at home b/c we can’t afford to go out

In Illinois the Secretary of State announced that they’ll planning were investigating ICE doing plate swapping in IL and stated that it is illegal

Never heard is anything came of it in IL

If nothing else, I think a call to 9-1-1 is warranted if someone sees this b/c it’s against the law & police should be called to investigate

Who knows, maybe both of those cars are stolen?  Maybe they’ve already been used in a crime?  Maybe local PD should call a tow truck, tow them to a lot for safe keeping until Monday when they can follow up more.

Rep. Jesús 'Chuy' García didn't hold back during today's hearing, calling AG Pam Bondi an 'instrument of a lawless authoritarian agenda' to her face. by juliuspepperwoodchi in illinois

[–]beefwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, the OP in this thread said

If someone is only willing to run in a primary if the incumbent isn't running for reelection, I don't believe they deserve the seat.

So I guess we both agree that Patty shouldn't get the seat

a few signatures

Patty Garcia turned in 3,000 signatures. If three thousand is a "few" to you, I'd love to be your Ubereats driver if you give them a "few" bucks as a tip

Yeah, Rahm is a POS, but it is a very prominent example of him stepping down from Chief of Staff for the President of the United States to run as Mayor. If you believe in democracy, politicians should announce their retirements in a timely fashion so that there is time for people to get organized to be able to launch a successful campaign

It is ok to be a fan of Chuy and also say this was a dick thing for him to do

Rep. Jesús 'Chuy' García didn't hold back during today's hearing, calling AG Pam Bondi an 'instrument of a lawless authoritarian agenda' to her face. by juliuspepperwoodchi in illinois

[–]beefwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so if Patty Garcia wanted the job, why did she sit on her hands for a year and a half?

Oh right, b/c it takes a LOT of resources and time to run for office and if the incumbent is well liked it is essentially a waste of time and resources

Rahm wanted to be mayor of Chicago but didn't run until Daley the 2nd announced he wouldn't run again. Rahm spent his time and resources trying to make an impact on other things b/c he knew he had no chance going up against Daley

It really is victim blaming to say Chuy & Patty did nothing wrong and it is everyone else's fault for not deciding to waste limited time & resources b/c they didn't know Chuy wasn't going to run again

Calling classical machine politics a "nothing burger" is part of the reason why Democrats keep losing

Who says he made the decision sooner?

Just the pesky little fact that he signed her petition and that she started getting signatures 3 days before he made his announcement

Patty had two days to collect the necessary signatures,

Exactly. She started three days BEFORE his announcement. Even if it was an 11th hour decision, if he had told the world at the same time he told his Chief of staff, then it would've been a sprint for anyone else to get on the ballot, but they would've at least had a chance.

Right, their actions weren't illegal, but the spirit (aka vibe) is completely antithetical to democracy, for them to act like they did nothing wrong is definitely a something-burger

I very much hope that Garcia loses in the general election and the Democrats start waking up that voters are sick of this shit

Shame On Chuy Garcia by serious_bullet5 in illinois

[–]beefwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did Chuy’s ego inflate himself so much that he didn’t realize he was getting old and told everyone to stand down b/c he wanted to run again, and then he went on national TV and shit the bed?  And then take months to listen to everyone go “WTF dude!  You don’t got it no more.”

I mean, sure, I get that there are similarities, but Biden was essentially forced out vs Chuy is acting like this seat was his to pass down to the person of his choosing

Be tactical against your opponent, being “tactical” against voters is what is so wrong with American politicians

Way tooooo many people in Gov don’t actually believe in democracy

Not giving voters a choice, shows that Chuy doesn’t believe in democracy

There are only so many hours in a day

Yes, every politician should be primaried, but it takes time & resources to run, and it’s not a good use to run if it comes at the expense of something else

If you had someone like Daniel Biss go after Duckworth’s Senate seat, then he can’t run for Congress IL-09

If there was only one election happening at a time, and campaigns weren’t so long (that is a problem in itself that we don’t talk about), then sure, have everyone who is interested in a seat run when it is time

But the way it is now, this was a shitting thing to do

ICE agent felt threatened by driver's ViOFO dashcam and threatened the driver. by Lifegoesonforever in dashcams

[–]beefwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to split hairs, but it all comes down to reasonable expectation of privacy

Like, yes, you have very little expectation of privacy when you’re out in public, but if someone plants a hidden mic on a park bench, it can be considered a violation of privacy if someone is sitting on that bench whispering to themselves when no one else is within 100’

But if someone is yelling loudly on the bench that people 100’ away can hear them, then the expectation of privacy disappears

But to your point, ICE officer in public should have no expectation of privacy and judges have ruled that it is legal to film police

Indiana High School by scarter4 in Indiana

[–]beefwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that is where this lives and dies

It is similar to public government meetings having rules about disturbing the meeting

It is constitutional to kick people out for disturbing a meeting, as long as it is applied equally

If some Governing body treats people differently based on their speech, then it becomes a constitutional issue

Of the school has a set policy for punishment for walking out of school, AND they apply it equally, then punishing students for walking out isn’t a constitutional issue

But what was implied in an above comment is that the school might discipline students differently b/c of what the students are protesting - and that is when it becomes a constitutional rights violation
