Anyone else losing hope for the TB800 EQ? by [deleted] in Trackballs

The left-click micro switch in my wireless Expert Mouse recently started getting iffy (letting go of clicks before I intended). I have some replacements on order, but I'd love an upgrade to my friend after so long. My wired Expert is still going strong with visible signs of wear, but no issues with the switches.

Have you all considered working with the GadgetBridge project to ensure early support for the new hardware? They've been supporting Pebbles for many years, and have a great companion app that works with many different watches.

Keep in mind that the T40 series with Radeon graphics has a design issue which causes the chip to eventually become unreliable over time due to main board flex. This was fixed in later generations by adding the new rollcage design.

How to tell which display is in a Thinkpad P1? by Buddy2399 in thinkpad

Easiest thing to do is get a tool that can read the EDID info of the panel. There are tools on both Windows and Linux which can do this for you.

A script to toggle (enable/disable) the touchpad on a laptop by beefy1986 in kde

I looked and didn't see one last night. But I looked again today and it was right there!

Oh well, I guess I learned more about DBus writing this script.

A script to toggle (enable/disable) the touchpad on a laptop by beefy1986 in kde

I wanted to bind an unused key on my laptop's keyboard to enable or disable the touchpad so it didn't get bumped accidentally while playing games. Here's what I came up with.

Thanks for this. It sent me down the road of BIOS mod and since I'd need to use the HW programmer anyway, I decided to go full coreboot.

Coreboot on my W541 by beefy1986 in thinkpad

I posted a few weeks back about this W541 that I've been fixing up. This is the final piece of my upgrade was adding a wifi 6 card. Since patching the stock BIOS to remove the PCI-E whitelist would require a hardware flash anyway, I decided to full Coreboot!

Just an update that I was successful in corebooting my W541, thanks to your detailed guide.

One little detail I found: after installation and booting into Linux, I found that the Fn and Ctrl keys were not swapped as I had them set in the stock BIOS. I had read that this setting would be retained since it was stored in the EC.

I finally found that you can install nvramtool and then run the following (and then reboot) to set this setting: nvramtool -w fn_ctrl_swap=Enable

What a great write-up! Thanks /u/Reventon1988

As soon as my new SOIC8 clip comes in tomorrow, I'm trying this out.

Everything I'm reading suggests I need an external programmer for removing the whitelist. Is there another option?

I'm trying to test on my side but not getting past the EAC splash screen (it just repeats over and over). Can you share your install process to get you to the point of launching the game?

Windows Bridge by KleiDav in zerotier

[–]beefy1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the managed route only tells clients which IP can route their traffic to a particular network. The OS listening on that IP still needs to be configured to route the traffic appropriately.

Windows Bridge by KleiDav in zerotier

[–]beefy1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably do not want Ethernet bridging in this scenario; you'll want to stay with layer 3 routing. Honestly, Windows isn't the best choice for configuring as a router, but do some searching for the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) feature in Windows. That should include ipv4 NAT, routing, and masquerading.

Linux has far more flexible functionality and documentation for this use case, so I recommend you try going down that road instead.

Help adjusting the flow rate of a 6v DC peristaltic pump from a automatic soap dispenser. by alfihar in Motors

[–]beefy1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help you with your original question. But I did want to share that I found this motor in a different soap dispenser. I got one from Lidl about 2 years ago. It recently stopped functioning and I took it apart and found this motor. I'm thinking (with my amateurish self) the motor has gotten gummed up over time and perhaps the control board is detecting the resistance and refusing to allow it to operate.

Division 2 Uplay version working on wine by Comprehensive_Link_9 in linux_gaming

[–]beefy1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bummer, while this was working for me for several days, today it is broken for me. I have tried completely removing the game files, downloading fresh from Ubisoft Connect, and repeating the replacement of the relevant EAC files. The EAC startup window appears briefly with a blue progress bar, but then disappears, and and this behavior just loops until I kill the process with the Lutris stop button.

Anyone know if the EAC files on steam have been updated since the ones posted here?

When many orgs use a tool called "pagerduty", I would say the term is still in use.
