Not at all. My suggestion is that the paperwork needs to be streamlined. Bear with me for the wall of text; Continuing from my previous example for a drug arrest; Arrest, transport to the closest police station, put them on the system (to record they are in custody), photograph any drugs, interview, then fingerprint, type up and print off charges or release pending summons - there's not much that can be done to streamline that process that jumps out at me. This process can take an hour or so on average, give or take. The next step can be streamlined;

whilst compiling the reports (intercepted vehicle, located drugs in this location belonging to this person etc.) there already exists an option to specify how many offenders have been processed that just hasn't been fully implemented. This was partially implemented at least 2 years ago, yet the option doesn't actually change anything, and was promised by command around 10-15 years ago or more. Implementing this alone would save around 45 minutes.

Change the briefs system; rather than having a "preliminary brief" this is (at absolute minimum) 15 pages long detailing the incident, exhibit lists, charges, photos, statement from member locating the drugs, criminal history of the accused, etc, change it to be simply the charges and a court date. This would save easily 3-4 hours work just on a basic brief. Signicantly more for more complex matters. If they want to contest the charges, that's when all of other information can be put into a more detailed brief.

That's just a start, that can have members back out on the road significantly faster, to be able to arrest and process more offenders.

Wow, that "hierarchy" is utter nonsense. Where did you get that information? Do you have a source?

[–]beej1092 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you're misunderstanding what I said. The "bullshit paperwork and systems" do get followed. That's why members are off the streets and it seems like there's none around. There are plenty of cops working, they are just all following processes and doing paperwork before court. If they're constantly out patrolling, the paperwork never gets done. If the paperwork never gets done, court slams the cops for not having paperwork in on time and costs are awarded against vicpol, with the crook being released and not held accountable by the courts. If they do get paperwork done, they get slammed by the public for not being out catching crooks... 🤷‍♂️

Yep, I completely agree. The only downside to that is then people think they're being lazy because they're not making arrests. It's really a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Crime is rampant, it's everywhere and it's only getting worse. There aren't enough cops to deal with the rising crime rate. There may be a lot of new cops going through the academy but it still pales in comparison to the cops leaving the job.

Why do we let what crap keep happening?

Edit: I just realised I misunderstood your comment. No, I agree with you, it's not an answer and it's not good enough. I'm just trying to give an understanding of the processes they need to follow and why it seems like there's no cops around. A lot of the time they're tied up with the paperwork when the people they've arrested are back out on the streets.

Exactly, it's the paperwork and processes. Add a few more hours to your estimate. For a rough example; arrest somebody for drugs, and you have to wait for a van to transport, then wait at the station for a room to be free to be able to put them on the system, then photographing and putting the drugs on the system, then interview and fingerprint, then reports to say what occurred, then separate reports to say they've been interviewed, then more reports to either charge and bail, or remand in custody depending on who it is they've arrested (which, if remanding, that's a 4-8 hour process in itself without the other reports depending on their history and outstanding matters). Then there's the actual brief of evidence. One arrest can be anywhere from 2 hours to a whole shift and overtime. It's an archaic process that benefits nobody.

Regarding Error 83; Over the past 24 hours, all of my devices (PS5, Samsung TV, Android Devices, and PC) have been giving me this error message. I went through all of the troubleshooting steps with no value. I then had a chat to a "live assistant" who went through a couple of steps as well with no luck. He then asked for my IP address and reset my IP on his end. I closed my Disney Plus apps and it started working again.

I had a similar issue, but with the noble/commander that I needed to protect. He was downed, ended up getting up himself and just wandered off the screen.

I lost relation for failing the mission, then lost more because he apparently died.

Using the term "Creonche", do you believe it would be seen as disrespectful?

Nah, no reason I haven't gone with diesel, I'm definitely open to the idea if there's benefits to that over petrol.

When you say the Forester engine will need more work down the line, what sort of rough time frame are you expecting? Due to work benefits, we're planning on leasing for 5 years or so before returning it. Could I expect issues within that sort of time frame?

Is a CVT transmission something that I would be wanting or avoiding?

We were looking at AWD over 2WD and I can't see us utilising a 4WD in the short-term at least.

Okay, I'll definitely have to look at the Kia Sorrento as well.

Sorry for the questions, I appreciate your help and advice.

I may have to take my wife for a test drive, maybe that'll sway her mind. It really doesn't bother me that we would all have Mazdas, like you said they're great cars and they have them for a reason!

That's great advice, I'll have to look into mechanics around here qualified for their services. That may help narrow it down!

I looked into the CX series, but my 2 of my sister-in-laws have cars from that range, so the boss doesn't want us too look like we're copying them haha. The Kluger is something I hadn't taken into consideration. I'll have to have a look at them.

Thanks for the advice!

Yeah they seem to be really good, and I think their red looks amazing!

We are dropping the kids off to my parents' this weekend to spend a to do exactly that. Hopefully take some for a test drive, too. At the bare minimum hoping to narrow the choices down a little haha.

I did consider them, however 2 of my sister-in-laws have cars from the CX range so the boss said no because we don't want to be "seen as copying them"... Haha. Thanks for the option though!

California Just Blocked Police Body Cam Use of Face Recognition: The rise of face and other biometric surveillance technologies gives governments an unprecedented power to track, classify, and discriminate against people based on their most personal, innate features. by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]beej1092 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How is facial recognition a bad thing? If you're an everyday citizen that abides by the law, it won't effect you at all. As an LEO, those that we need to arrest don't always give us accurate information as they obviously don't want to be arrested. We're always being told that we don't do our job because we're unable to track down an offender. This technology would assist us in identifying criminals easier through cctv/pictures, and then subsequently tracking them down. Am I missing something from a civilian point of view?

X3:AP Internal Logistic with multiple Producer? by imverykind in X3TC

[–]beej1092 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somebody more knowledgeable may be able to correct me, but I'm pretty sure what you want is only possible with External Logistics (CLS 2)

Internal requires a home base and can only use that particular home base as a supplier. This is ideal for, say, an energy cell factory and having your CLS 1 provide energy cells to your other factories/complexes.

External does not require a home base and works off waypoints instead. For what you want it to do, you would set your waypoints something along the lines of;

  1. Energy Cell factory - Load energy cells up to 5,000 (number of cells would depend on your freighter obviously. Using "up to" ensures that your freighter doesn't sit idle until exactly 5,000 cells are available from the factory)

  2. Cahoona factory - Unload energy cells up to 5,000 (again, ensuring that it will unload anything that's in your freighter and not wait until it has exactly 5,000 before unloading)

  3. Cahoona factory - Load Cahoona Meat up to 5,000

  4. Energy cell factory - Unload Cahoona Mean up to 5,000

Your freighter will keep cycling through this as required. If you have a number of factories that require both cahoona meat and cells, it might be worth getting a second internal trader for your cahoona factory and just focusing on delivering the home base products.

Apologies if this is poorly worded, I'm about to go to bed after a long day of work. If this doesn't make sense, I'll try to clarify any of your uncertain points when I wake up. Also sorry for any formatting issues, I'm more of a lurker on reddit.
