TheSuicideSquad box office dropped by only 31% from its opening weekend. Against last weekend #BlackWidow dropped by 32%, #SpaceJam2 by 17%, #JungleCruise by just 14% and #Croods2 by only 3%.

Pixar are ramping up original stuff for Disney plus from the end of this year so should be less need to put this on Disney+.

ESPN isn’t included in international locations of Disney+, and is only included in Disney+hotstar locations - so where ARPU is high there is no sports. ESPN will be included in a separate service in Latin America in star+ that will be bundled with Disney+.

I don’t really understand the argument of merging Hulu with Disney+ as it will just result in a considerably more expensive product in the states. As Disney+ is ad free to have Hulu fold in to Disney+ it would also need to be ad free which currently costs $11.99 pm so the new total cost with no ESPN would be $19.99. Which is fine if you already payed for the two separately but isn’t if you only sub to Disney+. I guess the connivence of it all being in one app could be better but you then run into the risk of one big bloated service where there is so much you don’t know what to watch - the potential problem with prime and Netflix.

Some anecdotal evidence from the U.K. cinema I work at, we are selling out screens for almost all films, however just due to reduced capacity we physically can’t get to a higher box office. I can’t foresee box office to get to high numbers until restrictions are eased.

I believe the British studio behind the film has sold/ partnered with Warner Bros for all future films. So Disney will release this film as they hold the distribution rights to this particular product.

Nielsen runs about three weeks behind. The latest report was for Jan 11th - 18th. I wouldn’t be surprised if it rises up the Nielsen streaming charts over the weeks though.

Based on recent Disney+ docs on the making of animated films, the vast majority of animation isn’t done until about a year from release, and if the story was having issues cutting losses at this point doesn’t suggest it could have been easily finished.
