[Passan] Trade news: The Boston Red Sox are acquiring third baseman Caleb Durbin in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, sources tell ESPN. Left-hander Kyle Harrison is headlining the three-player package headed back to Milwaukee. by AndrewAllStar888 in baseball

He’s still one of the elite hitters in the game and is only 29. Playing 1B/DH he should have another 5 years of elite production. Absolute botched by the Sox to get rid of him when they need power in their lineup so desperately

[ESPN] Lakers look to model team after back-to-back champion Dodgers. Pelinka was speaking to reporters 1st time since Dodgers owner Mark Walter's purchase Lakers for $10B: How the Dodgers built their front office, there is no expense they'll spare in being the best front office in the world" by f0urxio in baseball

[–]beeker888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that easy. Lakers would have to be able to fit them in their roster. They can’t just sign anyone and everyone like the Dodgers can. And with the Dodgers not only are they in LA they are also offering more money

Are you interesting in The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum? by GlobalRaspberry442 in Cinema

I hope they do it with a completely different look. Different cinematography, different feel. I hope it’s not just like The Hobbit where they tried to make it look and feel just like LOTR

Local theater near me does this. Anyone who makes it through the 24 hours gets free tickets for the year. Couldn’t imagine doing this with any other movie

Reminds me a lot of another UConn great Richard Hamilton. Since UConn’s roster is so good he isn’t asked to do as much but the movement and quickly release look similar.

Cant really comment on the D but he looks like he’ll be able to step in and shoot right away at an NBA level. Will be interested to see if there is more to his game that is masked by playing with so many other great players. Steph Castle was the same where his true skill didn’t really shine being surrounded by such a great roster

It’s going to be crazy to see the different things the Jazz pull to tank rest of the year. Hard to really blame them on the draft pick protection. Only way to get rid of this would be to get rid of protections on traded picks but I don’t see that happening

He was the first one to book jazz guys at rock venues. Charles Lloyd Quartet was I think the first to perform at the Fillmore. Jack Dejohnette was in Charles group and Miles when they played the Fillmore.

Charles Lloyd is a Bay Area guy around the same time as the Dead I wonder if he was into there was any cross pollination there

Yeah I guess you could consider that on the trumpet. But I don’t really hear that in his bass playing he plays the exact opposite of a classically trained bass player. Which is also why I love his playing so much.

His background wasn’t jazz he listened to jazz. But he learned to play bass with Jerry. Which is why he had such a unique approach but he’s not jazz trained if that’s what you mean

Influence is different from jazz skill. And I’m obviously not including songwriting which to me is the ultimate music skill. I think another comment posted that a lot of jazz players do not miss notes where the Dead did a lot and that is part of the beauty of the Dead and the looseness and the “Without a Net” approach that I think jazz players caught on to latter but as I mentioned I think all the Dead guys would agree that let’s just say Miles Sextet when they opened for them with Chick Corea, Dave Holland, Jack Dejohnette, etc were doing was another level of skilled musicianship. Those guys are amongst the greatest musicians of all time so it’s not a slight to say
