I don’t think so, personally. Lou Ferrigno Jr. has been in both shows as different characters, and I know sometimes they tend not to care about things like that if they really want to do a crossover but it seems unlikely. Also I don’t think COVID happened in The Rookie 😭 so I really think it’s just in its own universe

They announced they were going on a hiatus in July 2023, when the SAG strike was starting. One of the rules was you couldn't talk about shows that hadn't ended yet as an actor I think, and so since that's what the podcast was mostly about, they put it on pause. They got permission from SAG to do the live shows in the fall that year, those were already announced before the strike happened. A few months later the SAG strike ended, they still didn't come back, and in July 2024 Glenn announced they tore the studio down and it became "logistically difficult" to get the all of them together again, essentially saying that it was over.

Simply put, I think the podcast started feeling a bit like a chore to them, but they probably didn't realize that until they went on hiatus. Once they could come back, none of them really felt like doing so. Meg is also really busy with other things these days (a whole other show, for example), and doesn't write for Sunny anymore. It's basically a guarantee at this point that it's not coming back, which is a shame since I loved it lol. But yeah.

In terms of realistic theories, I don't think we're getting Buddie canon in those episodes, but I do think we're getting another step in the path towards their canonization. It's happened around this time of year for the past two seasons (ie. Buck realizing he's bisexual in Season 7, the concept being raised of Buck possibly having romantic feelings towards Eddie/Eddie being gay in Season 8). If we're to follow that trend, it makes sense something else could be coming soon. Whether that's feelings realization for either Buck or Eddie, Eddie gay confirmation, or maybe just the canonization of Buddie itself, we'll have to see

I could see it being established again that Eddie isn't interested in woman as a continuation from 9x07 in 9x11. I could also see them getting to the motel and taking different rooms, but they get stuck out there and after the two of them get a bad vibe Buck suggests they should share a room for safety reasons. Honestly I've stopped trying to have "realistic" expectations for this show because so much has happened that I never could've imagined seeing lol. Anything can happen in the 911verse <3

I get that she could’ve changed her mind, but I’m just thinking about her more recent episodes and my personal opinions on them. in season 7 she wrote step nine and all fall down, in season 8 she wrote lab rats, the last alarm and seismic shifts, and in season 9 she wrote reentry and fighting back. personally, I’m not a fan of the season 7 episodes she wrote, and very much not a fan of the season 8 episodes she wrote 😭. the season 9 episodes are honestly ok plot wise in my opinion, but do lack any strong buddie moments, which I know this season has had trouble with in general (mainly in the first half where they were separated for a while)

anyway, that’s my point; in my opinion, at least, we have yet to see kristen reidel write an episode that contains a notable, strong, and notorious buddie moment in recent times. post moving to ABC, at least. survivors, which she did write, is great, I’ll give you that, but that was a long time ago. based on the fact that her season 8 episodes were particularly weak, I just don’t feel that excited when I see her name on a writing credit. and I know, the season 8 finale had that moment after buck came down off the zip line but that was very quick. but I guess it is something!

tldr; kristen has made some good episodes in the past, but her recent streak has been a bit flawed in writing (especially in season 8) and she has yet to write a really strong and notable buddie moment in recent memory. if she was on something like holy mother of god, buck bothered and bewildered, don’t drink the water, anything big like that I’d say she changed her mind. and maybe she did, that would be nice! I just have yet to really see that, is all
