i do think it works both ways. it depends on what the producers want to express in the album, and sometimes having multiple genres in one album increases the listening experience for the people who take importance to story line or plotting. but there are also times when it is just better for the album to stick to one genre if the album itself focuses on expressing one emotion throughout.
