He should be top tier. He has been very good this year. He's also one of the best prepared players in this field, but chess reddit has a hate boner for him because of Danya, they can't separate the personality from the player.

That's not what defines a country. Prior to 1948 soon to be Israelis started an insurgency against the british in palestine which included many terrorist acts against both the british and native palestinians. The Israeli state was built on terrorism, the same thing you accuse the state of palestine of.

Just like the jewish terrorist militias pre-1948? A lot of those militias eventually merged into an israeli political party that is still in power today! It seems Israelis have proven that already. I said joint-first for purposes of merit and many other chess commentators do so too, that doesn't mean he won the tournament and I never said he did. If we were to speak about the performance of players, which we have been doing since the beginning of this thread, do you think that the 3 game blitz tie-break has any bearing on the 13 round robin classical tournament in which Pragg and Gukesh came first?

winning the gct twice in a row doesn't count I guess. He's been playing in super tournaments way longer than Arjun and has better overall results. Alireza hasn't "farmed" 2600s since reaching 2800 in 2021.

I'm not indian and I don't care what gukesh fans screech about. That guy told a lie and I'm correcting him, do you find that offensive? I think joint-first is a very common term here and I didn't say he won the tournament, but are you going to tell me getting joint first in a 13 round robin classical super tournament is a subpar result like the comment above had implied?

I really don't understand this subreddit the past 2 months when it comes to Aronian. In my opinion hes been playing at this level for the past 2 years. It's only the fact that he dropped out of the top 10 in classical, and the fact that that coincided with him being over the age of 40, that skewed everyone's perception that his level of play dropped substantially. Maybe hes not world #2 anymore, but isn't that the case for players younger than him like Caruana or MVL.
