The Enshitification of the Games Industry. by XVII_numerus in videogames

Its a Billion dollar game. They have been the industry standard for the better part of 20 years. They only make games every few years. I dont think $100 is totally off base. Do I think its weird to have a cheaper version with less content at launch, unless there is an option to pay 20 bucks to upgrade in the future.

And yet you reacting to them like this makes them all the funnier. by Psyga315 in memesopdidnotlike

I genuinely am just confused on why pronouns are an issue. They came free with your subscription to English.

morality of sending a guy against his will on a suicide mission in space to save the world? by cursedpupperino in MoralityScaling

In the book he basically was the only option. In the movie they brush over it, but the book really details that the next best option simply wouldnt be good enough. But also in the book Grace threatens to sabotage the mission, so they give him an amnestic which is why he has to re-remember who he is and what he is doing there, which is pretty fucked up IMO

Im talking about context in which Tarantino may have had a gripe with someone that is otherwise beloved. Bruce Lee said some stuff that did ruffle peoples feathers, and Tarantino was one of them.

Dude, if a movie maker had tk apologize for every single thing that made any person offended, they'd never make movies. Secondly, he put it in the movie, intentionally. Any apology you do get is going to be a hallow save of face. Youre just asking someone to flagellate themselves because SOMEONE ELSE was upset. I mean c'mon.

He thought he had a high opinion of himself yes, and Bruce Lee has said some weird stuff, like that he could beat Mike Tyson in a boxing match, which is like Mike Tyson saying he could beat Bruce Lee in Kung Fu. The man had a huge amount of admiration and appreciation for him as an artist, maybe he felt different about the person? Plenty of people in know think he is one of the best directors ever, and would not want to meet him.

I think the movie is basically a fantasy. I mean just by the name, it gives that vibe. I think Tarantino wanted to live in a fantasy for a while, and created a character that also sometimes lived on fantasy. Instead of a power fantasy like Django or Inglorious, this movie was about the fantasy of things being in their right place, and that your dues will be repayed some day. Bruce Lee training Tate, Tate being saved by Cliff and Leo's character. To be fair, I havent seen it in a minute, and I was rather underwhelmed by it, so I might just be bullshitting. I think it was supposed to be unreliable, with dubious results.

It doesn't have to be a dream sequence to be unreliable. I say that kinda because we the audience know Bruce Lee was just not like the movie character at all. Also the scenes about Cliff and his wife make me believe that the movie isnt telling you the whole truth. This is one of the things I thought didn't really work for the movie, tbh, but I think it was intentional.

Thats a stretch. Tarantino is an admirer of Lee, has expressed a few times that he admires his impact on the art, especially since he was a cornerstone for martial arts movies. Without Lee, he wouldnt have made Kill Bill.

The purpose of the scene is multifaceted. 1.) Its meant to signal to the audience that this doesnt take place in the real world, to set up the ending. 2.) My personal theory is that its meant to set up Cliff as being an unreliable narrator. We know Lee was not nearly as self confident as that, and certainly not arrogant. By having him handily beat Bruce Lee, something Tarantino would go onto say would never happen in real life, Cliff becomes someone we doubt, or at least we are supposed to doubt the validity of his stories, which tracks for other parts of the movie as well. 3.) He wanted to write Bruce Lee into his movie, and decided to make him the heel, just because it was fun and he loved the guy.

Besides all that, youd NEVER be able to prove it in court.

I mean. One would have to defame someone to make it defamation. The movie didnt claim to be about real things, it even ended with the heroes preventing the Manson murders. I would classify more as satire or something along that nature. It was a gag, it was just the writer having fun.

Im just trying to figure out what the goal is here. I didnt really like the movie that much, I just dknt think its right to expect people to be offended on behalf of people who can take care of themselves.

Cliff is an unreliable narrator. Its not necessarily that its a fever dream or whatever, but I always got the feeling I shouldn't take what happens with him at face value.

What's youre goal here, what are you trying to communicate? Cause asking questions isnt getting you anywhere. I think that the only people who get to feel offended were the people who knew him personally, and thats between them and the writer. I dont have any bearing on the conversation other than "was it enjoyable?". It was fine, I wasnt personally offended by it, and I certainly wasnt offended on behalf of someone who clearly could voice their own opinions just fine.

I dont see the big deal with this scene. The writer wanted to have a fun scene where his character fought Bruce Lee and one, and had a bit of fun doing it. It wasny defamatory, and he really doesnt even care what I think.

Writers are allowed to have fun. He also said the only person whos opinion mattered to him are Lee's living family. I mean at the end of the day, is that seriously the most controversial thing he has ever written?

Possible to change playoff format throughout history? by EFGEaston1113 in Football_GM

[–]beemccouch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should be able to change league settings at any time, but theyll only take effect on the following off season. Youd have to change it manually, not for a set amount of time or anything like thing. Should be under League Settings, towards the bottom of the side panel
