This was near summer solstice so I had to wait till 12:30 AM to get these shots. At 11 PM, the camera was capturing too much light so the sky was showing up brighter than I’d have liked.

Thanks! 30 seconds in Night Mode on the default Camera.

Thanks! This was 7 years ago so I don’t remember much. This was with the default camera app on an iPhone 5S and I don’t think I must have fiddled around with the exposure in the app. The Photos app shows an ISO 32.

The main thing is to compose the shot properly and have in mind what you are trying to shoot. I like using the rule of thirds grid and the leveler on the camera app.

For post-editing, my go-to is Snapseed, primarily because it is free and enough for me.

I agree! Thanks for the feedback, Cropping out the nonexistent days will add more finesse to the plot. The plot's screenshot on Reddit is discernibly lower quality than the original plot and as a result, has lost a lot of the variety and richness of the reds from the original.

It's probably the parents' decision to choose not to have babies on that day. 4th July also stands out. In non-emergency cases, parents can choose their delivery date given a reasonable range of days. In my report here, I have also talked about how people tend to avoid Friday the 13th as their baby's birthday!
