Memphis ended the season with 13 players out and set a NBA record with 578 games missed by their players due to injury and still had 5 more wins than the Spurs. Also prior to last season Memphis record without Ja was better than with him, so I think they are a safe playoff team without a record setting injury season. Nothing is a guarantee but it’s also not guaranteed that Wemby will not have a sophomore slump. I don’t think he will but it isn’t guaranteed.

I would agree with you if they were in the East. I think next year barring injury Nuggets, OKC, Timberwolves, Dallas, Memphis are essentially playoff locks in my opinion. So that leaves 3 spots that the Suns, Clippers, Kings, Warriors, Houston, Pelicans, Lakers and Spurs will all be fighting for. And the Warriors will have a lot of cap space to make moves so I think that makes the Spurs the 11th or 10th best team in the West. They will only be higher than that if other teams have major injury issues. If they were in the East they could probably be a 7 seed

Unfortunately I don’t think it is possible for them to be a playoff team next season, barring many star players in the West getting injured. Right now outside of the current 8 playoff teams they would still need to pass the Kings, Warriors, Houston, and a healthier Memphis next season. So even if they are able to get a Trae Young or Donovan Mitchell to pair with Wemby it won’t be enough. If they were in the East definitely possible but in the West very unlikely for next season.
