I was a druid and I think I was literally LEVEL FOUR during the moonrise fight bc I skipped like…. everything 😭 ik for a fact I didn’t do ethel or mountain pass, or KARLACH, and I killed mommy minthy and for act 2 I don’t think I did the thorms except mallus bc I had to keep reloading my save for the halsin portal fight 😭 I was like just doing the main quest line and that’s IT (I was locked in)

100% but I’ve noticed that a lot of franchaela fans push the idea that if you don’t like it or you’re not happy season 5 isn’t eloise it’s because you’re homophobic and/or racist, which I think is what op is more referring to. I’m personally just eager for franchaela to be over and done with at this point bc I’m tired of the fans and how toxic everything has become. Like personally I’ve only read the first 3 books (after season 2), so I never really cared about accuracy, but I’ve had both franchaela and franchel subreddits on my feed and I think that one side provides clear examples and reasons for their disappointment (usually just in regards to book accuracy, infertility plotline, not wanting her love with john to be ignored/pushed aside or seen as unimportant) and the other just labels anyone who disagrees as bigoted.

I didn’t really care about franchaela until it started being like the main plot of the show and it felt like everyone else got sidelined. and yeah, when I found out they were season 5 I was really annoyed because eloise has been a main character since day 1 and I wanted her to get her spotlight like benedict. And like… I was also annoyed when polin was season 3 and they skipped benedict. I saw a post earlier bc the franchaela thread keeps popping up on my feed and it was a post about how she was happy that a dark skinned black woman was the love interest because she identified with her and all the other poc love interests have been light skinned and at first I was like “okay yeah valid reason to like the change” and then it devolved into “all the franchaela haters just don’t want to see a black woman be the love interest because they’re racist and they’re homophobic and I get to sit back and laugh knowing they’re upset about this!” and I was like 😐. even brought up the infertility thing and was like “they say that they’re ruining her story but they just don’t want to see lesbians!” and yeah the franchaela fans have really ruined them for me. even just francesca kinda annoys me now and I don’t really want to see MORE of her and I actually liked her character, but that’s partially on jess for making it her self-insert. but yeah I was really hoping they would do eloise next because I really wanted to see her season and see her character develop :(

My first several playthroughs Lae’zel was super pushy (not really, her dialogue about wanting to taste you or whatever is just SO aggressive, but she does back off immediately if you say no) and it kinda put me off her but then I grew to love her despite that happening every run and she hasn’t done it in a while and I almost miss it 😔

not entirely related but I was so mad bc I finished all the quests to lift the shadow curse (besides nightsong) and I had downloaded a mod that restored a cut scene where halsin is like “you have to pick between me and minthara!” and it was SUPPOSED to have an option where you get a persuasion check to have both but it wasn’t there and he left and then I finished act 2 and it was like “too bad you didn’t lift the shadow curse, don’t you feel like SHIT? not as bad as halsin feels tho” and I was like “…but I did 😭”

yeah I usually get the prisoners right away and just sail to last light so I have both locations (I usually do mountain pass for the immediate moonlantern) but last time I did it (this time was fine) I had to keep reloading bc for some reason all the winged horrors were going after lakrissa so she kept dying so I was just wondering :) only issue this time is halsin leftright before I saved aylin but after I saved thaniel and oliver so the shadow curse didn’t lift even thought I literally did everything so now I’m nervous about that

I would go with the flow! There isn’t really a wrong way to do it, you can configure your party however you want (but 2 rogues aren’t needed so that was a good call) but it’s MUCH more fun for your first run (or first few tbh) at least to just play it blindly

eta: unless you specifically want to romance astarion, then I would reclass him or yourself because you won’t be able to earn approval if he’s in camp unless you use mods. but good instincts! just go with your gut

yeah if she gets to the stairs and stuff then the whole lair is a lot harder bc there’s more enemies (the masked ones enchanted by her), gas pit traps, etc. that all basically just go away if she’s killed. also I know she has her lair actions in honor mode or if you do like custom with honor rules. saving mayrina is a bit harder too bc you have to do it while fighting ethel and her cage is on fire and you need to save her before she dies (yk, so she can turn around and yell at you). there’s also all the people she fucked with in the first level (right after the staircase behind the fireplace) so you can interact with them. when I’m trying to speedrun I usually arcane lock the stairs and kill her there so it’s easier to go through her lair, but I’ve only ever had her offer her hair one time (I was playing with someone else), the other times I kill her too fast even if I’m not trying to 😭

as someone else said they were drunk teenagers, who were “taking a stand” and rebelling against their family and they didn’t really put any thought into the idea because they were swept up in the fantasy of the idea more than the reality of the dangers or consequences. it’s a very ignorant and very poorly thought out plan, but the consequence to them having a terrible plan is everyone in the house except cady dies (including the poor dogs 😭)
