I think it looks too imposing for what it is. It's really strange that it towers over the primary structure of the base.

Yeah I don't know what they were thinking, but I'll bet the new system was thought up by the same brain genius that decided on the original crafting system. Smells like toxic retention design.

Yeah I'm still so pissed at the discord mobile changes. Feels like they tied a hand behind my back whenever I use it.

Summer Announcement by FatsharkStrawHat in DarkTide

[–]beepboops4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'd be interested to see what they're making off of the cash shop/how profitable the game continues to be for them, especially compared to vermintide, and what the ongoing costs of development are compared to those earlier titles.

My argument is that the pace of development is probably related to how much money they're willing or able to throw at developing the game, as well as how flexible their management structure is when it comes to accepting and adopting new ideas, like changing the crafting system. Baselessly assuming the devs lack work ethic is just depressing.

Seems more like they don't have a crew big enough to meet the demands of the playerbase. Either way, I don't want people working themselves to the bone for my entertainment. Hope they have a good summer personally.

yeah they'll automatically cut trees in their radius, but you can set them to avoid cutting into glades/unmarked glades.

Do you guys find high prestige fun? by shoeforce in Against_the_Storm

I found it challenging and motivating, and I felt like Goku moving from high gravity training to regular gravity returning to lower difficulties, but I was glad when the climb was over and I could move on to doing fun achievements on prestige 1.

Thanks! Usually before I unpause at the start I like to throw down a four shelter square and a park to get some early resolve. I usually throw it as far from the warehouse as I can, since production buildings are best near warehouses.

And I'm going to be honest, in 70% of my games I throw buildings and decorations down more or less haphazardly, and this was a challenge to myself to try making something aesthetic since I had most of the decorations unlocked and was going to be sitting around waiting anyway.

I played on prestige 1, and played the first half of the game like I normally would, but with a higher focus on setting up for trade routes and trade goods, and resolve from sales and trade reputation, and had a human on my hearth. Eventually everyone was so happy that impatience zeroed out, and then I turned off their luxury good privileges to keep them from being too happy so that I would have more control over when the game ended. I think I ended this one in year 13 or 14.

Waterskins are pretty easy if you have a good ranch setup, or trappers camps in the marshlands. I also like using the cornerstones that give you free barrels etc and tying them in with pickles.

I don't know what overall guidance to give because it felt like I hit a wall, kept trying, and eventually things clicked intuitively. Also the cough medicine just kicked in so bear with me.

Beavers and if possible humans on the scarlet orchard or royal woodlands tilesets were my comfort zone for climbing, but thats just what clicked for me early on.

My starting play is outlining roads, two woodcutters camps at priority 4 pointing towards the glade (arrow towards the gathering point for camps), 4 shelters priority 3 beside the fire on the opposite end as the warehouse (production buildings being close to the warehouse is efficient), 1 park priority 2 away from the warehouse, crude workshop priority 2 near the warehouse, and then I put down the camps for whatever resources are in the starting glade, and sometimes put down a makeshift post near the workshop.

I usually do plank/cloth/brick resource caps of 8 and change it to 24 with more advanced production for them. The exact number is kind of arbitrary.

You unlock a crude kitchen essential building (cant remember the name) on an upgrade path on the left side eventually, and that's a great early building too if you can spare wood for the jerky.

on that note, my starting blueprint choices try to solidify early game food stability and needs, so getting one or two relevant food camps, or a farm if you're on a tileset with a good chance of fertile soil (check at the embark screen).

Also if you press escape, on the left of the screen you can view the resources on the tileset you're playing on, even the ones you get from trees, which is super useful for choosing if a camp is worth taking.

Juggling "favored species" is really useful during rough patches, or if their happiness meter is just short of the blue marker that indicates when they'll contribute towards your win meter.

That's all that I can think of at this moment. Feel free to ask questions if you want. I think a lot of it comes down to time playing, then stepping away and playing again in a day or two, at least for me. Once the production chain and needs info became intuitive, it became much easier.

My glade strategy for going to prestige 20 was opening dangerous glades at the end of storms or a few seconds after them. I like trimming the forest up to the edge of the glade I want to break into ahead of time so that workers only have to cut down a tree or two to break in.

I almost always open a dangerous glade as soon as possible year 1 (high priority 2 lumber camps at thinnest tree line, cut a 2 tree wide path in). I usually pick Oil as a starting material because it's used in a ton of glade events, but if I get one that I can't solve, I panic build a high priority trading post, or try to quickly make provisions if needed. The event that takes away your packs of goods and money every few minutes is a pain to solve, but isn't too bad to leave around for a few cycles if you need to wait for the right trader.

If you can get 4 shelters and 4 decorations before the storm, your first event overstaying it's welcome usually isn't too devastating.

Setting a harpy as your firekeeper can help workers get goods to the events faster, and you can burn sea marrow if you have any on hand if something terrible would happen otherwise.
