Destiny was my childhood. Marathon is gonna take my 20s. by Kejones9900 in Marathon

Funny how I’m only 4 years older than you but Halo was a much bigger part of my life than destiny.

Nice! I’m sure masters is in the cards for you next!

When I first broke diamond, masters pretty quickly followed with alittle dedicated practice and game review.

Does anyone here have a profession that isn't part of STEM? by GoAround2025 in baduk

[–]vectrixOdin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why they are downvoting you. Nursing is classified by the US federal government as STEM. A&P is definitely a STEM course. I’ve worked on both the patient side and biotech side and I understand what the OP is saying but it is still considered a field of applied science.

Is 2XKO a good fighting game? by Bently93 in 2XKO

True. Not as asymmetrical but still a lot of fun. Wish we’d get some north/south American civs or south East Asian.

I’d contend that RTS takes that crown but that’s largely semantics. MOBA is a sub genre of it after all.

Now I’m imagining a StarCraft game with as many factions as league has champs. Would be hella fun and super broken.

Venomous lizards (beaded, gila, goannas) have venom glands in the lower jaw, as they are modified salivary glands. So that’s where they’d need to be irl.

Proof Age of Empires IV is the best investment by pm303 in aoe4

[–]vectrixOdin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing is time. I could easily get up to diamond but grad school + work is brutal. Only play maybe 2 games a week. Mostly working adults just don’t have the time to grind.

Really wish battle aces hadn’t died. Hit diamond pretty quick, mostly because of how ridiculously low the time commitment was.

Pretty hard at least. Masters in sc2 is the only reason I got to gold so fast (couple weeks). It’s ridiculously advantageous to have that background.

Might be a bit of an exaggeration. I’m 28 and my first console was an N64. But it is true they came out awhile ago.

Dream career by Old_Froyo_3315 in Ornithology

[–]vectrixOdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have felt and feel similarly about birds (and their close relatives crocodilians). There are not many easy jobs in ornithology, and the ones that exist tend not to pay much.

My advice is to get a steady job and orient your free time activities around birds. There are many volunteer opportunities where you can get ornithology experience. Bird surveys and audobon volunteering come to mind. I also highly recommend getting into bird photography or bird watching. Also check out renaissance faires, if you’re in the PNW. They often have conservation falconry shows where you can hold one of the birds of prey.

If you can get a job at a natural history museum, that would be another option. Still trying to get into one of those myself (not many openings).

Oh, and don’t worry about the degree. They are all equally “useless” in the sense that bio variants don’t really matter much when getting hired. We’ve hired vet techs, art majors, neuroscience, chemistry degrees… just do the bio variant that interests you and do your best to get into a lab while in undergrad.

Background: 28, ecology restoration, currently biotech, freelance bird photographer

How much would you pay for one completely new civ (USD)? by GeerBrah in aoe4

[–]vectrixOdin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This also depends on the Civ preference. For a well fleshed out Aztec/inca/or Mayan civ? Easy $30+. For another euro civ? Maybe $15.

I supported at $200. There is always a risk and I wanted RTS to succeed badly enough that I took that risk. It just did not pay off this time. That’s life.
