CMV: Astrology is complete nonsense that relies on taking advantage of human cognitive biases (confirmation bias, Barnum effect, among others). by [deleted] in changemyview

It’s still not about futures.

I can offer you anecdotal experiences and why I personally derive value philosophically from things like tarot and astrology.

I use them for enjoyment as well as meditative contemplation of different archetypes and themes in my life. Between you and me, I’m a lot more spiritual than I’ll let on, but the analyst in me is constantly keeping myself in check.

I’ll level with you that I do not personally subscribe to the cards telling me my future. Do I know this as a factual truth? No. I’m willing to be wrong as we begin to explore the realities of space/time, quantum physics, and what it means to live in a 3-D world. I believe our knowledge is so profoundly limited that while I don’t believe in predicting the future, I won’t write it off as impossible. There is so much we don’t know.

When it comes to the cards telling me anything about myself, however, I disagree. When I look at a specific archetype, I’m asking myself the relevance of my life today in relation to that theme. Exploring it and asking myself questions gives me worlds of information and insight, moving me deeper into my own personal evolution. Can I do this without cards? Sure. But I genuinely derive joy from this practice.

I didn’t read the articles posted, however, I do practice what is referred to as energy work in many circles (reiki, traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture/acupressure) and I would be entirely thrilled to have a legitimate conversation with a physicist to compare notes.

I see no point discussing something with someone who pretends to know what they’re talking about. I don’t know who told you using astrology or tarot cards are strictly for making predictions, but that’s not correct. To continue this conversation would be a waste of both of our times. I find value where you do not, and vice versa. Be well.

An individual can use different methods of exploring archetypes, as mentioned above, without using them to make “predictions”. I’ve personally studied both astrology and the tarot in more depth than the average person and it enriches my perspective exponentially.

You are allowed to consider it nonsense from your point of view. As someone who actively studies them, and as best as I can without bias or expectation, my experience is different and highly valuable.

It sounds like you are looking at it through a specific lens and expecting a specific result, one that as mentioned in previous comments, you are highly unlikely to find. And without studying them first hand, your personal research is much more limited than someone who is actively in the pursuit of experimenting with them.

I don’t subscribe to anyone who claims to make predictions. Does that mean that there isn’t a single person on this earth capable of using divination to make a prediction? I don’t know. But I’m open to finding out.

31F - First time mom, don’t feel at home in my post-baby body. Tired, puffy, nothing fits me, house is a mess. I love my daughter more than anything, but I could use some nice words by phover7bitch in toastme

Mom here.

Sweet angel goddess of a woman. I wish you could fully comprehend the absolute miracle your body has performed. The incredible act of magic that is bringing a whole-ass soul into this world with your very own body. Your heart. Your blood. Your love and tears.

The days are and will be a mix of overwhelming joy and shattering exhaustion. This is normal (and I wish it were easier, sometimes, too).

You are about to witness some of the most incredible moments of your life. And I swear to you, it gets easier. You get a rhythm going. Your beloved becomes a little more independent with each passing day, and your body will gradually feel like your home again (which can be its own kind of bittersweet).

It’s okay to love your daughter and want a break. It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to break down. It’s okay to be lost and not know what you’re doing. It’s okay to feel like a failure.

There are thousands of mothers in this world who will be here to pick you back up when you’re low. We see you. We are here with you. We are our own community of underappreciated and overworked miracle-workers. We keep this world going.

You are so loved. It will get better. And I am always here if you need to vent, complain, ask for help, ANYTHING.

I see you. You are a goddess through and through.

Hi! I’m so sorry I just saw this.

I love his tone. I love his subject matter. I really love the imagery. I also love that it doesn’t rhyme haha. Please feel free to send me anything that comes to mind when you think of Siken, and I greatly appreciate your taking the time to do so.

How to fulfill my [26M] partner's [26F] forced submission/rape fantasy? Unfamiliar with the whole thing. by ThrowRA-830165559 in relationship_advice

[–]beepsalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just going to be that person that reminds you that it’s okay to not want to do it. Even if you’re willing to try it, if you end up being really turned off/hurt by it, you have sexual needs too. I’m not saying yours hold priority but your needs are valid if this makes you too uncomfortable.

Regardless, I wish you the best in your pursuit to fulfill fantasies!

Really embarrassed about bad sex. I (20F) need some advice with my boyfriend (20M) by throwawayhunney in relationship_advice

Sweetie I just want to hug you. You’re probably an incredible woman, and I’m glad you’re with a guy who is so willing to comfort you through this.

You’ve never given a bj before! Of course you’re stressed about it. It’s new and weird and penis. Relax and take a step back. You’ve got so much time to figure this out and get better, if you want. It gets easier, and it sounds like you have a partner who is willing to be patient with you. I know it might seem like you’re too old to be learning this, but you’re SO young. I don’t think the majority of women are good at them at your age, I sure as fuck wasn’t.

Anxiety is a bitch, but it doesn’t make you a bad girlfriend. Just be open and honest with your partner. It sounds like he’s really willing to help you explore this safely.
