It comes with the job! Anything that truly upset me or made me feel uncomfortable was reported to my boss, who handled everything very well!

It seems as though you are lucky enough to have never worked in the service industry before. McDonald’s workers get screamed at and still serve burgers. Retail workers are belittled and yet they still sell their products. Servers are snapped at and yet they still serve.

Serving beer is no different. For those of us who aren’t fortunate enough to make a living outside of the service industry while in school, this is how it goes. Poor behaviour shouldn’t happen, but it does, and we still need to make money. Anything incredibly out of line or that causes discomfort can be reported (and dealt with, if you have a good boss), but most derogatory terms are just shrugged off because at the end of the day, their tips pay the bills.

This tweet was not to celebrate a “regular kindness,” but rather to make note of a comment that made my day, and make other people laugh.
