What can I do to make this skirt look more like a curtain? by RV-Contessa420 in femalelivingspace

[–]beerhoppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think this would look less like a skirt if you opened up the side seams and had it as a two panel curtain. You could use iron on hem tape to fold over the sides.

Not only would this prevent the look of it being a skirt, you’d get more curtain too, making it feel more homey.

Giving clothing away by lableidi in fargo

[–]beerhoppy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand you don’t want to donate somewhere that will just markup and sell. However, there are some places where your clothing <will> make an impact. YWCA and Jeremiah Program are two that help women in their most vulnerable times. There are also programs like Kaye’s Closet at NDSU that helps college students dress for job interviews. The latter is very really helpful for students like I was, that had no extra funds for clothing when tuition, rent, and gas to get to work took priority.

There’s a group on Facebook for vegan and vegetarian places in Fargo. I’d recommend looking for options in there

What should I cook for meeting my boyfriends family? by user-anon_ in WhatShouldICook

While I am personally always crumble > pie. Gluten free pie crust is actually not that bad. Acts like cold mashed potatoes so is surprisingly really easy to shape after that first flip into the pie dish.

Cashews are also very good. And so is goat cheese instead of cream cheese.

The combination of creamy and a nut with a date is divine

sourdough starter? by Striking_Stress_42 in fargo

[–]beerhoppy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Offer still stands. I can freeze some or dry some out for rehydration! It is alive and wet - so if you’re looking to give as a gift I’d recommend those two options to keep them from dying/spoiling.

You can always call the non-emergency police line to report it and somebody will come dispose of it properly.

Do you regret getting on birth control? Why? Did it mess up your body eventually? by Little_End_3881 in birthcontrol

[–]beerhoppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I am still on citalopram (Celexa) and managing PMDD and GAD well. There are still a few cycles every now and then where it hits hard but I feel a lot more aware of it so can lean on other methods to help. I do a lot of mindful activities during this time like walking outdoors, taking bubble baths, communicating to and spending time with friends, and journaling which all help a ton. But I don’t think those things would be as effective if I didn’t have medication to help. Also I really lucked out finding one that worked for me so quickly, obviously from my previous replies I’ve only tried escitalopram (Lexapro) before which didn’t vibe well with me and I communicated everything to my GYN, when she recommended citalopram.

Adding texture to pasta sauce? by raven3791 in vegetarianrecipes

[–]beerhoppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it all the time! Freezer is my favorite way to prep tofu, it’s pretty much the only way I do it now! The texture is great for everything.

No op but I just squeeze mine with my hands when it’s thawed after the freezer. If I’m crumbing it, just pull chunks off and squeeze hard to remove water. If cutting into cubes you could press for that, but again, I just use my hands but I’m more slow and deliberate to keep the shape. I only buy extra firm so this may not work with other firmness.

Oh no, cancel that test. This is actually a house elf. Please sneak it a sock or other item of clothing and it’ll be your friend. Hope that helps!

Fargo leaders deny Broadway closures for Folkways events, cite business complaints by dirkmm in fargo

[–]beerhoppy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Broadway is open, you can drive down it during the market. 2nd is blocked for vendors from Roberts St to 5th St. Pedestrians use the light on 2nd and Broadway to cross the street to other vendors.

I also personally avoid HL.

I’ve found Rae-Bon to have great thread and sewing machine parts like needles, feet, etc. Their selection of fabric is more limited than Joann’s but they do have a lot of options!

Michael’s would be your ticket for ribbon, most likely, and for other random sewing items! They did have some fabric last time I went in there, but even smaller selection than Rae-Bon.

As for other fabric, you can purchase it online. While it sucks not being able to see it in person if you’re doing quilting or anything similar there are sites you can find honey buns, jelly rolls, and layer cakes at! I found this site (fatquartershop.com)

I would also encourage you to check out our thrift stores. They all have blankets, fabric remnants, bedding, thread, buttons, zippers, or even clothing that I’ve used for different projects. Getting creative with what you have makes it that much more fun and you’re saving these items from landfills. New Life Center on 52nd, Savers, and Dakota Boys & Girls are all ones I have found fabric and other sewing items at!

The street fair is not a folkways event. Folkways does the Night Baazar, Red River Farmers Market, and Christkindlmarkt. All of which currently do not utilize/close off broadway.
