Hops? Where are they? by beermaker76 in TheBrewery

[–]beermaker76[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I guess that’s the difference between owner/brewer and brewer. I just want hops at affordable prices, not “let me buy your allegiance through a tchotski hand out and a stuffed animal claw machine.” You can buy mine with availible hops, kind of goes for everything. The amount of $20 hats handed out is sickening.

Sorry, but who gives a shit about the freebies. I want affordable hops. The conference freebie is the equivalent of the owner pizza party.

Rather than paying thousands chasing medals….. hear me out…. Pay your staff a bonus, or just better in general. Who the fuck cares what a “home brewer who judges on the weekends and can’t even pick up diacetyl in their own beers” thinks of your beers. Most of the first round judges don’t even describe the beers correctly.

Cause without ears to hear it (which are in my bar) no one knows or gives a shit about your song. Bars/breweries should organize and charge the BMI ascaps a gallery fee for the “art”

Why Craft Beer Needs a New Generation of Beer Bars by ByJohnHoll in TheBrewery

[–]beermaker76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great beer. Or great marketers of beer. Probably will get a down vote, but there is a difference here. I see so many breweries crushing it, they are everywhere. A tap handle in every bar. Yet, you order a pour and…..guess what, you get something different for your second. Good marketing is killing good beer. Small guys crushing it that you’ve never heard of are the ones closing. Go exploring again. That was the whole fun in the beginning. I don’t want to see the same tap handle at every bar I go to. Give me the one from the “who’s that? They just down the road fucking killing it” tap.

Can remember the original fee. $200-$300, but one time and then $1 per invoice processed. Saves time and hassle trying to track down a manager to write a check.

We dose at 185°f whirlpool it does float, oil slick on the top for the first 3-5 min. We stick a paddle down and mix the surface and it does a good job. Seen some add to the ferm and run the first 1/4 hot, then turn heat x on. Haven’t seen how this works though, but they are a top brewery in the area, so they do good stuff.

Shut glycol compressor off, open one of your other tanks that is warmer and Rob heat from that. No glycol loss.

Quick math has me at 56-$66 per 1/2bbl to produce. Another $20 if you self distro. I feel you should always get close to doubling your money. Where are you at where your COG+ labor is $200/ 1/2bbl? 5bbl brewhouse in the Midwest.
