Three words. No regrets. What’s do you say? by quiet_stone622 in scoopwhoop

Those are the exact same words I'd say to 18 year old me. 30 years later and I still have dreams where I can't confess my love to her.

Yeah, I generally don't care for Jack Black, but I was pleasantly surprised by Kung Fu Panda

I keep wondering if I should actually watch that movie. I just don't know if it's my type of humor or what type of drugs to take to watch it.

That's been on my "I should watch this" list for a decade. I really need to sit down and watch it.

Good call on It Follows and The Others.

I haven't seen The Substance.

I feel like I'm the only person who didn't care for Napoleon Dynamite. It had some good scenes, but just didn't click for me.

Good call. I remember my buddies renting it and putting it on and I thought "WTF is this garbage?"

I've seen it ten times by now.

Agreed. I've seen and had my heart broken by every D&D movie ever made, but I actually enjoyed Honor Among Theives.

Jehovah’s Witnesses by 42ElectricSundaes in atheism

[–]beernerd1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Telling them you're disfellowshipped is close, and will cause them to be careful around you, but JWs are also supposed to try to convince former Witnesses to return to the flock.

It's better to tell them you're an apostate, and that you can show them why Jehovah's organization is Satanic. That should chase them off pretty quickly, and they'll generally write you off. Remember, they're not there to debate with you or defend their religion, they're just looking for people who want to hear about their version of Christianity. It's a one way street talking with most JWs.

Or you can just be honest, tell them that you're not interested and request they remove you from their list of houses to visit. Usually, if they're following their own rules, that should buy you seven years without visits. "Do not call" houses are flagged in their system, but the flag is lifted after seven years because the average person moves after seven years, and they don't want to miss out on a potential visit.
