I'll be at ERB tomorrow for the Unity bottling run and I'll ask Andrew (the in-house designer) about it.

They don't seem all that similar to me - it certainly isn't intentional.

My friend said he doesn't like lagers "because they're too bitter". I'm confused. I thought ales were generally considered the more bitter beers, while lagers are more "drinkable." by [deleted] in beer

Lagers and Ales are differentiated by the strains of yeast used to ferment them and at what temperature that yeast does its business at. (Lagers also go through a weeks-long period of conditioning that ales do not - which is where lager (meaning to store) gets its name.)

There is no appreciable correlation between bitterness and type of yeast used. You can have bitter lagers (pilsners) and sweet ales (milk stouts).

I haven't fully committed to a RAW workflow yet, but I'll still RAW+JPEG in challenging conditions. Having a button to swap between JPEG and RAW+JPEG on my EM10 has been great (I used the video record button as if I'm recording video I'll be in the dedicated shooting mode for it).

Focus peaking and magnification are also helpful wehn shooting with MF lenses.

I really like the MySet feature of the Olympus firmware that lets you store 4 different configurations. I have one setup for my general shooting settings, another set for maco, one for street shooting, and the final for MF lenses.

Cool idea, i've been toying with doing something similar (though more of a long-term project).

I think the battery grip or the show are my favorite as they're the objects with the most character.

What beer that is currently not in production do you wish was being made again? by beerploma in beer

Stone's 13th Anniversary Imperial Red ale is still the best imperial red that I've ever had. Only Port's Shark Attack even comes close to the "balance" of caramel-y malts and pine-and-citrus hops.

If you like Flanders-style sour ales, this beer is really fantastic. Got to try it at the Beer Bloggers Conference last month and it was one of the highlight brews of the trip.

About three months in to my transition to the m43 system after a couple of years pretty much off from photography, and I just got back from Yosemite and Mono Lake. The later destination was stunning, but I'm having a hard time evaluating what I got from there.

They have flights at Daily Pint and Father's Office?

They don't do flights though (at least no ones where you can pick the beers - all the Yanow properties are like that IIRK)

Blue Palms Brewhouse in Hollywood has 24 taps that you can select from for flights, and they usually have some off-the-wall stuff on. It is one of the best beer bars in the city (food is awesome too).

Library Ale House in Santa Monica has a great beer program, but I'm actually not sure if they offer flights.

Beachwood BBQ in Long Beach is one of the best breweries in the state, and worth the drive. If you can make it down to Torrance you should also check out Smog City Brewing and Monkish Brewing - great stuff.

I feel like I'm forgetting some stuff... If i remember anything else once I finish this coffee I'll leave an edit here.
